Hotels near River St. give guests great access to some of the best fine dining, shopping and sightseeing in the city. Historic Savannah hotels combine southern charm with a generous slice of culture. Were a Girl Scout friendly Savannah hotel dedicated to making your and your troops stay as enjoyable as possible. Hotels in downtown Savannah are in the perfect location to explore the city. Our close proximity to River St. is why many guests choose our Savannah hotel. Were the birthplace of the Girl Scouts and are proud to host troops traveling throughout the year. Within walking distance to a great family restaurant, The Lady and Sons owned by Chef Paula Deen, our hotel is the perfect choice for guests looking to get away from it all. We also offer close proximity to the historic district, so history buffs and guests looking for southern charm can easily find it. If youre here for a holiday or special event, take advantage of the convenient location of our Savannah hotel. St. Patricks Day and Oktoberfest are two big celebrations that everyone in the region waits for, and our guests are within walking distance to many of the festivities. The Savannah Beach is 18 miles, or a 20-minute drive, from our Savannah hotel. Beach combers can quickly get to the coast and enjoy a day of water recreation, sunbathing or sandcastle building. Were also just minutes from the Rock and Roll Marathon, a favorite annual event. Due to our downtown location, we charge $12 per day for parking, which is a competitive price for this busy district. Each room is also allowed only one vehicle. Business travelers especially enjoy our competitive rates, and our Savannah hotel regularly hosts employees of Georgia Port Authority, Gulf Stream, Hunter Army Air Field, and service men and women in town with Fort Stewart. Book your quiet, spacious room at BEST WESTERN PLUS Savannah Historic District for a fantastic vacation!

Extra parking charge $12.00

Everything was OK, except charging extra $12.00 for parking during check out, which was not telling during booking.

Location location

Walking distance to everything in the HIstoric district, lovely beds, clean, bit of road noise but they do everything they can to ameliorate it and as a fairly sound sleeper it did not bother me at all

Great stay for a great price

We arrived from out of state several hours before check-in, and the staff was nice enough to make a room available for us. This was especially helpful since we had to freshen up for a wedding! The free breakfast was great, the room was very clean, and the location was convenient for a short walk to River Street. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but in relation to everything else it's a small price to pay. I'd definitely stay here again.

Great time in Savannah

The room was very roomy with big bathroom & sink.Very nicely decorated. Staff was wonderful. The continental breakfast was delicious. Would stay here again. Very close to the Riverwalk and all the Squares. We bought a walking guide book and toured everything on foot. Wasn't bad at all. Saw everything up close and got to visit shops/pubs/restaurants without hopping on & off a trolley bus. It was fun!

Surviving in Savannah!

The room was always clean and cool after a long day of walking. But the staff at the hotel rate 5 *'s! The concierge found us reasonable tours and well worth taking. The continental breakfast was a feast! And the hotel was within walking distance from all things that one would want to see in Savannah. We would definitely stay there again.

Ok for the price

Summation: noisy, may not be kid friendly when there are drunk people around, close to many places, parking is $10/day and only 1 car allowed per room, staff is friendly and helpful, close to food and sites. Just be ready for noise and disturbances throughout the night. I read the other reviews and knew what I was getting into so I was prepared for most of the noise. To elaborate: This hotel is in a section of town with a lot of traffic. If you come from a place where you deal with a lot of street noise, like I do, then it's not a big deal. There is also a "noise" machine in the room that helps drown out some of the outside noise. The staff person asked if I wanted a quiet room, which I said I would like. Unfortunately she thought that the room on the first floor, just outside of the elevator and common seating area would be quiet for some reason. (This would apply to rooms 101 to 106 or 107.) It wasn't quiet because that's where smokers and drunks congregate. I anticipated street noise, not that. It wasn't too bad on the week days, but I had to listen to the ramblings and shouting of drunks on Friday and Saturday night. The "noise" machine and air conditioner were not enough to drown out the noise. The cleaning crew makes a lot of noise banging their carts and shouting to each other in the mornings so don't expect to sleep in. Other than that it was an acceptable hotel. Perhaps staying in a room on the back side of the hotel might be quieter. It is close to the nightlife (which is good and bad). Since the rates are pretty good, it draws young people on the weekends. They are drunk, pile in a room, and sometimes make huge messes in the middle of the night. (One had stomach issues and made a mess on the balcony above me. This caused the security guard to go hunting for him.) As long as you can deal with these things, then it's an ok place to stay. If not, perhaps a place a little further from Bay St. would be better. The rest of the historic district, a few blocks from Bay St., seemed very quiet at night.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are a ton of places to eat along Bay St., River St., and City Market. They are very close and you don't have to worry about driving. There was a fairly wide variety of food including local and chain restaurants. It also gives you an opportunity to see some sites on the way.

1st time staying

The outside of it is not really impressive, but the inside is awesome. The rooms are spacious and are better than some of the more expensive chains I have stayed at. The bathroom was especially impressive. Very large. Appreciated the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Staff helpful.

If you don't plan to leave the historic district, there is no need for a car. Taking a cab from the airport is much easier than trying to find parking anywhere!

Close to fun

close to the fun part of town . Some staff members could be a little more understanding , we were denied a late checkout for no apparent reason , the hotel was not even booked for the weekend and they wouldn't budge on working with us the price to stay a few more days.
