Never Again!
Music was so loud in the lobby I had a hard time understanding the hotel clerk. They ran my credit card for a "deposit" and said it was declined and asked for a $50.00 cash deposit which I gave them. Come to find out the charge to my credit card did go through so now I'm trying to get that back. I was charged $28.00 for parking that I knew nothing about until time to check out. The room was nice but the service was deplorable. Not ever going back to this hotel!

hotel to avoid
Extended business trip thru July 4th weekend. Pool was sequestered for club style event pool parties for 3 days of the 4th weekend. Had made reservation at hotel to enjoy the pool in a relaxed fashion over this long holiday weekend. The general appearance of the hotel is poor and the carpet in the hallways is half old and half gaffers tape holding it together. While they have a renovation coming, that is the least of their worries. Hotel staff is ill trained, an not interested in working. Getting wash cloths in your room on a daily bases was next to impossible as was getting ice from the ice maker in the hallway. The quality of the towels used in the rooms was just a step up from an old YMCA. Room service was pleasant, but didn't know how to provide, salt, pepper or any other standard setup on a in-room dining tray. Multiple calls to front desk on various request were met with no response by the front desk or a response with no follow-up and additional calls would have to be made. I have stayed at this hotel 2 or 3 times previous but will not return and send warnings to stay away until complete renovation is done. Hopefully they will renovate the staff while they are at it.

Short walk from hotel
Emergency Room across from Hotel. You'll be able to find it easily if you need it as the ambulances are constant and loud. If you stay here stay on back side of property not facing the Hospital.

Nightmare experience/
Arrived on a Tuesday late afternoon. No bellman to be found by valet so I ended up taking my own brass cart of bags to make room.(Great first impression!) On a Tuesday no less. Hotel resturant consisted of buffett with 2veg.,a meat, tired salad and small squares of some sort of dessert. Other option was a loud sports bar with burgers. My room was adequate but not hotel quality, more like a motel. I called down to ask for my car and gave them my room number. When I got to the valet desk the guy did not stand up to ask how he could help me but looked up at me and said he needed my ticket to get the car. I asked why he didn't tell me that before I came down stairs and he said he thought he could find it but that I was not registered at the hotel. I went to the desk to ask and they said I was registered and that they were having trouble with the company doing valet which was not Melia.(more info than I needed but, They DO REPRESENT the hotel!) I proceeded to go back upstairs and get my ticket.I came back to the Hotel at 2:30 and my room was not made. I was told housekeeping stays until 6pm and the frontdesk assured me my room would be made before then and that they would make a note of my request. I came back at 7:15 and my room was still not made. I complained loudly and a manager finally appeared after 25 minutes of waiting. She sent me to the resturant for dinner so she could check on my room. I was hot and tired and really didn't want to go to dinner in that pitiful resturant but I complied and ate very, very little. In fact the waitress said are you through already???? The manager came back in about 35 minutes to say the room was ready. I asked her if when she went up was it made. She was honest and told me she helped make it up because they hadn't started it and they had a major problem with house keeping. I told her I didn't think I should pay for that day since your room is suppose to be ready at check in time. She said [...]they couldn't refund me but that next time I came they would be sure I had a better rate. I am furious that I stayed in such a place , with no service and a horrible resturant. If I had wanted the kind of treatment that I received I should have stayed at a Motel 6.[...]There is no reason I should not be reimbursed for such a horrible experience. This is a bad reflection on the hotel[...]. The manager I spoke with and who made my room up was Catherine Castillo and she was very apologetic for the whole experience. I travel extensively and I have never seen anything quite like this. The Melia Hotel had better make some drastic changes or they won't be in business very long in Atlanta.

In need of serious renovation
This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and I can't believe they expect you to pay $100/nt for it. The view was one of a kind but that's about the only thing going for the hotel so far. They say they're scheduled for renovations some time next year so I would caution you to stay away until then at least. I felt gross staying there. The carpets were taped together, the exit signs were falling off the ceiling, your neighbor has access to your room via balcony, you hear a lot of road noise and sirens from the room, and we found mysterious hairs in the bathroom/shower. Needless to say I'm NEVER staying at this hotel again. Oh, the staff was helpful/friendly and the beds sleep very well if you are a heavy sleeper.

Melia Hotel
All restaurants and gift shop were closed the 7 days/nights we were there. The lobby bar was open throughout the day with a limited menu. They were out of bagels! No place serving breakfast should be out of bagels - the whole week! The bar was out of cabernet sauvignon - my husband and I had merlot instead - there's not a nice bar in the walking neighborhood, so we were captive customers. The room had a lamp on one side of the bed - just one side - I stayed up to read in a chair and let my husband have the reading side of the bed - there was only one chair. The soap contraption in the bath area was measley - no way could 2 people shower completely with a small plastic vial of "bath gel." Fortunately the 1" square bar of soap supplemented this. There were few hangers. Twice the towels were strange - once a towel had a black magic marker name written on it - Lindsay V. - another time a towel had a few large holes. We didn't complain, as there was too much wrong with this hotel - we just pretended we didn't pay so much for it. Normally we stay at the Georgian Terrace, which was full at the time. The Melia had very few guests and it's obvious no one would choose this hotel, having experienced it. The desk and valet staff were competent - lady at the bar one night when we stopped was asleep!!
