Suffering from transition to Crowne Plaza

I am hoping that my experience with this hotel was just because the hotel was in a transition from Melia to Crowne Plaza during the weekend of my stay. Check-in was an hour after my stated reservation time. Wifi connectivity was HORRIBLE (a necessity for the nature of my visit to Atlanta). Miscommunication between the front desk and other areas were abundant. Breakfast was an hour later than stated by the front desk (who did not provide vouchers upon check-in). The room had an odd odor to it, and the bathroom floor looked filthy. On the positive - the breakfast buffet was fantastic and quite nutritious, and the wait staff were quite friendly and accommodating (the opposite of the front desk staff). There's a MARTA station within a block and a half, and Gladys' Signature Chicken 'n Waffles restaurant should not be missed (on the other side of the Emory U. hospital).

Needs upgrades

Hotel needs upgrades - hasn't been upgraded since the '90s and before that probably the 1970s! Cute look, but things are faded - carpet is a bit dingy and faded, albeit clean. Also: A coffee bar that doesn't open until 7 am? Is this a south thing or what? This northerner needs her coffee fix early!!!

Evening Escape

Afraid we did not have the best experience at the Melia Atlanta. Long line checking in. The room smelled of smoke. The bed was warped. The room service food was awful. Dark and depressing lobby. This is especially disappointing since my first stay with Melia in Granada Spain was exceptional.

Perfect for business

A beautiful hotel with very clean comfortable rooms. Great water pressure in the shower (that's important to me). A short walk from restaurants, Coca-Cola and Georgia Tech's campus.

A nice hotel but some things are missing

I did like this hotel and the location was GREAT but valet was terribly slow. The staff was very friendly but it did take some time for them to get to you and I mean check in/check out and valet. Room service was the only thing prompt. I live in ATL but I like to stay in hotels every few weeks just for something new and this one was one that I will not go back to.

First Time Visitor of the ATL

The rooms were clean, the Staff is friendly and helpful. It was a nice stay! The hotel is located a block from the MARTA station which makes getting around the city easy. The only down side was the people begging for a $1 (or spare change) on your way in/from the MARTA Station. Kind of scary at night because it's not a very populated area. And if you love southern food-check out Gladys Knights Chicken & Waffles which is within walking distance. Also, I'd recommend a visit to the Fox Theater -in walking distance from the hotel.
