Howard Johnson Inn Tampa Ybor City

The most comfortable beds and pillows we had on our trip. The motel does show some signs of its age, but not to the extent that it took away from the experience. The staff was wonderful. The location was convenient to almost everything (except the beach). We were on the highway side. You could hear the traffic, but the nearness of the highway was the reason it was so convenient and it really did not bother us. Would recommend this motel to anyone looking for economy and convenience.

In all honesty I wasn't expecting much for $49.00 a night but I wasn't expecting a literal truck stop! There were rigs parked in the parking lot and you have a view of the highway through a chain linked fence so not much to look at , didn't really matter to me as much as the room which was clean and had a microwave, fridge, AC and even an iron and ironing board. Would of been great if the the iron actually worked, the AC was broken too and that was a far bigger deal. I've read other reviews here and many people complain about the smell which isn't a big deal for me but THE ROOM SMELLED! The smell of industrial chemical cleaners was so bad it was practically unbearable! After sitting with the door open for an hour or more it became manageable. At best It's somewhere to stay for a night but wouldn't stay more than a night. spend the extra cash and stay somewhere better.

The hotel was close to Eastbay Raceway and we did not have to waste much time reaching the track. It had several nearby restaurants. Our bed and pillows were comfortable. I would have liked an indoor pool and hot tub.

Is an old hotel. They change towels everyday, but not the bed. Many places to eat near.

Nasty truck stop reality, and the pool was moldy black!

Staff nice and reasonably efficient. Interior needs updating, but that is to be expected. Room clean, except we saw and killed a cockroach. Carpets sticky between the beds. Breakfast poorly stocked.

i am 63 ,my first time traveling alone to watch spring training baseball--and lie in the sun and swim.everything was terrific..the manager was so helpful with directions, printing boarding passes, just everything..my maid service was very accomidating and this trip was priced right i will request this hotel again next spring, bonnie ahrens

Went to the hotel, should have been a sign when we had to stand outside to check in through the little window. The carpet was sticky. The light switches were filthy. It looked like they painted the room rather than clean it. We were set for a four night stay, we left after the first night (we arrived at midnight and were exhausted) and didn't go back. If you book on a travel site that begins with O and ends in Z, don't count on them allowing you to cancel reservations to a place like this, I tried 4 different times and each time eventually hung up after being on hold for more than 15 minutes.

Good but scary at first due to the neighborhood. There was constant road noise from highway 4 overhead, about 200 yards from the room. food was limited and medicre and when the decaf carafe was empty, they did not brew more. Should be a 1 star

Prostitutes, drug addicts and filth abound. Bareley rented, had late arrival and the entire property was dark. Had to find the entrance after several attempts, as the gate I was told to use was locked. Next to sewerage treatment plant which infused the air inside as well as outside. I had tio leave first thing next day and went to a real hotel. This is the worst space I ever stayed AT, SO DIRTY....THE BAR WAQS A TOP-LESSBAR. wILL NOT BE DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU EVER AGAIN IF THIS IS A RECDOMMENDATION. nOT EVEN NEar the area I asked for which abounded with first clss hotels. Ripped off three timesw by you and that spells the end.
