My review of Boca Ciega Resort & Marina, Condos By Sirata

The Boca Ciega Resort & Marina is a condo hotel. The unit we stayed was a Studio on the first floor. It was very tastefully decorated with a small kitchen area along the back wall. It had a stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and full-size refrigerator. It was well stocked with kitchen/dining equipment. There was a good size cupboard for clothes and a very nice bathroom. The problems began with the water in the condo. It strongly smelled of sulpher (rotten egg smell). We had to use bottled water for coffee and brushing out teeth. It was worse in the bathroom than in the kitchen, but once you ran the faucet, the smell lingered throughout the condo. As the off-site management company closed at 5.00pm, there was no-one to call to complain about the smell that evening. The Resort is on a main road. Our room was very close to a busy bridge so it was extremely noisy in the condo. The traffic competed with the loud refrigerator, so we got very little sleep that night. The Management Company where we checked in and returned the key is about 5 miles from the condo. When we returned the key the next morning, we complained about the smelly water. We were told that this is normal in that Resort. Apparently they had forgotten to tell us to run the water for 15 minutes with the windows open when we arrived at the condo. This should have gotten rid of the smell!! Not very helpful after the fact.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The Resort is close to the Veteran's Hospital and Memorial Gardens. There is a tiki bar which serves food next to the resort. There were several other restaurants a short drive from the resort. The beaches are about 5 miles away.

Down home feeling with a beautiful view

The Boca Ciega Resort was very nice -- room appeared to be new. Very comfortable and roomy. Would highly recommend this condo - The price was definitely right for what you got. This was like staying in a 4 star hotel and paying a 2 star price. It was more homey because it is a condo rather than just a room.

Shopping tip: Not Applicable

Large shopping mall about 3 miles down the road. Easy access to beaches (about 2 miles to beach). Beautiful view of Boca Ciega Bay.
