Lido Key hotel with great views and a private beach
With 600 feet of white sandy beaches on Lido Key, the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel has lots to offer those looking for fun and relaxation in Sarasota, Florida. This 3-star hotel overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and guests can grab a free lounger or rent a cabana to enjoy the surf, the amazing sunsets, or rent a bike and head up to St. Armand's Circle for fine dining and shopping. Nice experience
Perfect location, great food at a reasonable price and accomodating hotel staff. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Excellent entertainer in the lounge. Could have used a microwave in the room. No complaints.

great beach location
the room is a small standand motel room. the bathroom was clean and functional and the shower worked well. The Hotel advertizes free wi fi and tht is all ti is worth as it was hard to log on and it kept quitting on all the devices we tried to use. We have an ATT phone and the call quality at the hotel was not great so a better intenet would have been helpful. They do have a two great pools that are well heated. We did not eat in the hotel so I cannot judge the food. it would have been great had the internet worked.

Winter getaway
Staff and housekeeping staff (Nancy) did a fine job. Location on beach good, St Armand's shopping nearby. Traffic heavy on fairly long drive into mainland, restaraunts, attractions

Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel Pool View Room
Older hotel / motel with older guests, that is fine with us. Two full size beds average room size with table and chairs. Small toilet / tub room, sink separate. Flat screen w/ HBO. Refrigerator and coffee maker. Two heated pools one large. No hot tub. Beach bar and short walk to large beach w/ attendant. Garden view rooms quieter. Overall a good value.

Supreme relaxation
Just returned from 6 days of ultimate relaxation at The Helmsley Sandcastle. My husband and I had a great oceanfront room that was extremely clean with beautiful decor. Two huge heated pools, tiki bar, complementary appetizers at 4 pm, nice gift shop, an abundance of clean towels, breathtaking sunsets and super helpful friendly staff. Did I mention the free shuttle to St Armands circle if you don't want to walk the 1/2 mile? I must add that the poolside restaurant cafe food and presentation was excellent! If you are looking for a super modern facility, stay somewhere else. If you want a spectacular view on a gorgeous beach with cozy friendly surroundings- this is the place! We have stayed there before and will stay there again!

On the beach!
A motel-like uninspiring place with relatively small rooms and tiny bathrooms, but with a great location right on a very nice, uncrowded beach. Good value for a beach place. Location, location, location. Could use fitness center.

A dump that should have been bulldozed 30 years ago!
Apart from the location which is right on the beach, if you dont mind mold in the bathrooms, smelly tapwater, rooms with a ventilation system to mimic a 100 deg sauna, this place is great. Never again for me!
