Winter retreat

I loved the location, right on the beach. There were bike rentals at the hotel ( not free). The dinner menu was fantastic! It was also fairly quiet. My husband complained that both the room coffee and the complimentary breakfast coffee were bad. They could definitely improve their complimentary breakfast, for the price paid it wasn't much choice or very good.

Wonderful shops with really cute, affordable things that other shops did not have. About 45 of them in one area. Can't remember the name of them.

Mixed Review

The staff and evening dining were excellent. There were no easy chairs int the room to watch TV in the evening. I would not call this a "Deluxe Room". Beach access was sub-standard.

Eat at "Traditions". Excellent food and service at reasonable "tourist" prices. Island traffic can be extremely heavy and frustrating. Needs traffic lights!

Island Inn - island hide-away

My husband and I just spent a week over Christmas at the Island inn. We were immediately greeted by the wonderful staff, who provided us with various information about the resort and the island. Island Inn is in a perfect location on the island to view both the sunrise and the sunset on the gulf - one of the few places you can do this on the island! Our room was newly renovated; tile, kitchenette, and a view of the gulf. The cleaning staff was friendly and did a marvelous job the entire week. The beach is kept spotless, which welcomes all kinds of wildlife. We purchased a 7 day out of state fishing license and fished from shore each day (best fishing is when the tide is coming in). The beach is loaded with every kind of shell you can imagine. Dolphins were swimming by, less than 10 feet from the shoreline. All around, we had a fabulous experience at the Island Inn, and we will be back!

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

There is live entertainment each night on the island, including at the Island Inn. Our favorite two places we visited were on Captiva Island, just a short drive away; The Mucky Duck and Key Lime Bistro.

Beautiful ocean view rooms!

This hotel is right on the beach. I highly suggest ocean view room where when you open the screen door you can hear the wave. The beach is right outside of our hotel (depends on which building). 2nd floor room is nice as you can see sunset from balcony. Staff is very friendly. The free breakfast was better than some other hotels I have been to, blueberry scone is very good (I think they got it from local grocery store). The beach right at hotel is great for shelling, so if you are into that kind of thing. This hotel is great for that.

Loved It!! Way beyond any expectations!

I will be going back without a doubt. Was not sure what to expect as I got a great deal. I would pay twice what I paid to stay here again. I was told I had the only room with a partial view. That was okay with me- it had a slider where I could let the fresh air in and still hear ocean. The room was gorgeous, clean and with great amenities. Everything was modern and updated. I've seen some complaints about the free breakfast. It is great compared to another place I stayed on the island that also offered free breakfast. This place is top notch and everyone was so friendly. Can't wait to go back

Relaxing getaway

We were in a newly renovated beautiful room, with a screened in deck overlooking the Gulf. It was perfect! We opened the sliding glass doors at night and slept to the sounds of the waves breaking on the shore. Breakfast (continental) was included and was just fine. The restaurant is top notch- our dinner there was superb. We were also able to rent bikes there and rode all the way (on paved bike paths) to the lighthouse at the end of the island. The staff was wonderful. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Dinner at the Traditions is wonderful. Have dinner there on a Fri or Sat night, and live entertainment and dancing will make your experience really special.

Wanted to stay longer

We were pleasantly surprised at the closeness of the gulf. The private balcony and sliding glass doors afforded amazing views. The kitchen was fully equipped and extra towels were readily available. The food at the on site restaurant was very good, and the piano player/singer did a decent job. We tried to get a second night, but they were fully booked. In spite of the rain, we had a very good experience.

vacation

Most excellent time spent at Island Inn, Sanibel Fl. Went with my 78 y/o mother. Definitely will stay there again! The staff were helpful and courteous, the grounds were beautiful and flat making it easy to get around. But most of all we felt safe there, like a family atmosphere.

Charming little inn

Perfect relaxed Florida family vacation. We explored most of the island by bike. Lots of nature preserves. Beautiful beaches. Sanibel is known for its shells and there were a lot of impressive shell stores. One of them was She Sells Seashells. Our room at the Island Inn had a small kitchen and a screened balcony. It was really nice to open the balcony door and let the sweet sea breeze in. Great all around experience. Great memories.
