Safety Harbor Resort - Just OK

This trip was a winter getaway combined with seeing family in the area. I had lived in this area while in the US Coast Guard 35 yrs earlier and had always heard good things. Upon arrival my first disappointment was the hotel not having the room I had requested. I asked for a bay view room with a king bed. They could only accommodate a bay view room with two queen beds. The room was large and comfy with a nice view. Second, parking was very limited and the closest and best parking was valet only. This is a small quaint town, not a major city. The hotel wanted $10 dollars a day for valet parking. Totally over priced and ridiculous. Last, this was resort/spa hotel. Upon getting to my room, found that the hotel only provided a refrigerator for an additional fee of $10 per night. This was an 8 day stay/vacation - again, completely over priced and ridiculous. The final issue was that the thermostat in my room did not function properly. this was rectified by the maintenance dept. but it took multiple calls to get this done. The staff was nice and helpful. The spa/fitness center was very nice and they had programs daily you could participate in. The town of Safety Harbor was lovely and there were many nice small shops and restaurants available which made the trip passable. Overall, it was just an OK stay and I would not spend that kind of money to return to this property. I am a commercial airline pilot, and spend over 270 days a month in hotels from Vancouver CA to Paris France, so I have a pretty good idea of what one should expect from a great hotel stay.

Well appointed rooms and spa, XLNT

Went to Clearwater/Tampa Bay for fun in the sun, after a week in Orlando and WDW. It was perfect for our needs, we wanted to relax by the pool with our family (two kids 8, 11). There weren't too many other families there during our visit, but the kids enjoyed the pool very much. We ate lunch poolside, and dinners at the hotel restaurant. Both were delicious and the restaurant was very reasonably priced. We received a 2 for 1 night at hotel, and it was definitely worth it. At the regular rates, we would not choose to stay due to the cost. The rooms are large, bathroom substantial and wonderful deck for lounging. If ever back in that area, and there was a deal again, we would stay there for sure!

Rest and relaxation

Safety Harbor Resort and spa is a old rustic hotel with really nice whirlpools. The area where safety harbor is located is a slow down from surrounding areas for example Tampa. The locals are very nice and informational. This is better than the service at safety harbor. In this hotel everyone will tell you something different so get things in writing. Dont pay for the 25min. massage for sixty-plus dollars ( that dont even rub out muscle knots or stiffness) When their are local massage therapists will give you an hour for less. This is also not a tickle massage! I rate this place a 6 on an 1-10scale.

Large room with a great view!

We loved the huge room with two queen beds. Bathroom was roomy also. We really liked having the private balcony to sit on and look out to Tampa Bay and the boat harbor. Since we booked thru a third party site, it did not include the "free" continental breakfast. Make sure you also figure in the "resort fee" that you have to pay for each night when you are comparing prices. That fee you pay at check out.

Crispers right across the street has inexpensive light fare. Cold Stone Ice Cream is next door to that and a Starbucks a few doors down. Not much in the area as far as restaurants or shops. There is a Tiki Bar poolside which was nice. Lots of lounge chairs and tables at the pool!

Very enjoyable

My wife and I had a wonderful stay. Resort and Spa are well maintained and the staff is helpful and friendly. Very close to where the Philadelphia Phillies have spring training. Would absolutely recommend the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa to our family and friends

Lovely return trip to Safety Harbor!

We stayed here the night before we returned to MA. It was a lovely and comfortable stay. The room was large, the king bed comfortable and the WIFI very convenient. We also enjoyed a swim in the mineral pool although we were disappointed that it was chlorinated. Mineral springs should not have chlorine!!Overall, a nice stay and we would return.

Safety Harbor Resort

We arrived at 10 AM and were told we could not check in until 1 PM. We went out to waste time and got called at 11 we could check in but we were already far away and into our meal at that time. The room was warm and the temp was regulated. We could not lower the temp. The TV had limited channels and poor reception. The toiletries in our room were already opened and used. The hotel was difficult to navigate and there were not many signs. When checking out we had the do not disturb sign posted and housekeeping walked in while i was getting dressed. My husband and i were trying to have a relaxing get away after a very stressful month and this did not seem to accommodate.
