Choose between location & hotel quality

My husband and I took a weekend vacation to Florida to visit the attractions. We were offered several hotels while we were booking our flights and picked this one, "International Palms resort" on the International Drive in Orlando. The location was perfect and everything was walking distance. We rented a car to visit theme parks but international drive is the place to be since everything is located on that one street. However, the quality of the hotel was rather poor. The reservation staff mixed up our reservation but luckily fixed. The check-in time which is usually noon everywhere wasn't applicable. We couldn't check in till 4:00p.m! The rooms were slightly noisy and the overall cleanliness was less than one star. The rooms were dated and elevator was shaky. The crowd staying at the hotel was rather ignorant --- not the sort of people you'd want to pause and smile at as you were boarding the elevator. Anyway, we were out most of the weekend, only returning late in the night to sleep so I suppose it worked for a short trip like this one. Next time, I'd rather stay in a less than prime location but a hotel I feel more comfortable in.

Just across the street (on International Drive), you will find kiosks and stalls that sell cheap tickets to theme parks etc. You can purchase tickets from thee instead of buying them at the park you're visiting. Example: 2 tickets to Universal Studios were only 80$ which is half the price of regular tickets and they're the same great tickets..! Check out other tickets too and save some green! Also, the place is loaded with gift shops to buy soviners or gifts for someone back home---inexpensive and a nice token. Wake up early and stay up late---everything's open either all night or very late into the night!

the good bad really ugly

we were there for premier Beauty show, so thank god we were not in those rooms much, lots of black mold ceiling spackling falling down, ive stayed in orlando past 10 years this was a very dirty hotel nice pool good pool bar thats it really needs upgrading it said it was upgraded this year we were moved from one room the mold was so bad Im allegic and dead bolt was broken to the towers wich were better not much but better

Dont stay here !!!

The pics of the hotel were misleading, thought the hotel resort should be named motel.The staff was friendly but the hotel could use update.

What

Buying a piece of property I asked for king size bed and I got 2 full size bed. I have to spend ten minutes explaining about my reservation.

The hotel was not what it looks like in the pictures online. Advise to anyone, the price was about right for the rooms; maybe a little more then what the rooms should really be,so don't assume that you are getting a great deal when you view those online photos. The rooms are comparable to MOTEL 6. The rooms were older, and the bathroom didn't work right all the time. We had to adjust and fix it a few times. Most of the staff was friendly and knowledgable, but the conceirge wasn't real knowledgable. The last morning our family was at the hotel, someone was blowing grass clippings outside the building at 8:00 A.M. and woke everyone up. STAY AWAY, spend the extra $20 and get a better hotel for the comfort and enjoyment of your vacation. Call and ask for current up to date photo's of the rooms.

Not so great getaway

ONLY STAYED AT HOTEL FOR CONVENIENCE BECAUSE HAD A SHOW TO ATTEND AT THE CONFERENCE CENTER. FOR THE PRICE, WAS DISAPOINTED FOR THE QUALITY OF THE ROOM AND HOTEL APPEARANCE. HAD TO CHANGE ROOMS BECAUSE ADJOINING DOOR COULD NOT CLOSE AND ANYONE FROM OTHER SIDE COULD COME IN. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT IT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE IF COULD FIX SO I REQUESTED ANOTHER ROOM ALSO HANDICAP FYI. THE FIRST ROOM FOR HANDICAP WAS ON OTHER SIDE OF BUILDING AND FARTHER TO WALK FROM PARKING. SECOND ROOM DIDN'T HAVE A REMOTE AND 2 LAMPS DIDN'T WORK. I HAD TO CALL AND GET A REMOTE BUT THE SERVICE WAS VERY PROMPT AND COURTEOUS. I WOULDN'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN. TOO MANNY OTHER HOTELS JUST AS CONVENIENT IN BETTER CONDITION AND UPGRADED FOR LESS MONEY.

Good for one night only

The staff was wonderful. The rooms are in need of updating. The hotel is under repairs, so once they are done it will be nice. Location is good, just a busy, congested area.

International Palms Review

The location of the hotel was the best feature because it was so close to Universal Studios, but the hotel itself was not up to the standards i expected. The room seem to be outdated, i experienced problems with the telephone,the hotel just seemed to be old. The elevators were even old,very slow & the room was not very appealing to the eye.

Take advantage of Citi-Walk, there are plenty of things to do in Orlanda for children but Citi-Walk has a very nice selection of bars for adults.

hate the bathtub

Hate the bathtub. The bathtub is so thin, basically it makes dent when I stand on it when takes shower. A/C was loud.
