Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites ACROSS FROM UNIVERSAL ORLANDO

We were pleasantly surprised that the room had a small kitchen and a pull out bed. The hotel was quiet, no doors slamming or kids running up and down the halls. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would definately stay there again.

I cannot articulate the odor that permeated the whole property. The hallways ans lobby were hot, NO ac at all. The door I was instructed to enter to gain access to the 2 room suite I had reserved, was nearly blocked by a large machine that raised personel to the higher areas. I was sprayed with what I trust was just water as they were pressure washing and did not stop after I had waited a few minutes. The hallway carpet was spotted with paint and drywall and smelled molded or mildewed, either way it was most ubpleasant. The noise level was hideous on the lower floors and the heat was nearly unbearable. I did feel sympathy for the help and voiced same, they assured me it was ok, but the sweat gave away the lie.I did decide to go up to the eighth floor in case conditiions had improved. The hallways were newly carpeted but still hot no AC and the room was vary nice actuially IF one could get past the odor, I however could not. Needless to say I elected not to stay. The front desk personel was very understanding and agreed to refund charges but I need to contact [...] myself. This also proved to be a bit of a challenge. The wait time was very excessive, well over 5 minutes and the process took much longer than I had anticipated, resulting in my having to phone my daughter at the airport so she could gat a taxi instead of my picking them up as planned. That was a $50.00 ride also excessive but there you have it when you are at thier mercies. I did request [...] to transfer my reservation to another hotel in the vicinity to no avail. I stayed at the Hyatt at a much greater rate but was totally satisfied with the service. [...]

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites MAIN GATE TO UNIVERSAL ORLANDO because it was Great Location, it was foot steps away to Universal Studios. The Hotel itself is not so great! When I first had arrived the guy at the front desk was very rude. He asked for my name and he was mis-spelling it when he entered it into the computer and was argueing with me insisting that I was at the wrong Holiday Inn. Finally he realized that he was wrong and he didn't even apologize for his mistake, he was just so nasty about it. Then when we got into our room on the 4th floor, the whole 4th Floor smelled like rotten broccoli and cheese [ Ewww !!! ]the room was un-clean, the balcony was dirty and the shower was broken the pipes were rusted green, I don't understand why they would even check us into a room that had broken plumbing! We then changed rooms to the 8th floor which was much much better, I suggest staying away from the 4th Floor! but other than that the location is wonderful if your planning to go to Universal but if you have it in your budget to stay at a nicer hotel, you should.

spent most of the time at universal but overall the rooms were great the only thing i didnt like was the the vending machines only took credit cards and that didnt even work compared to my last trip this one was great would defenitly stay again

Great location for visiting Universal; very friendly staff and TGIF Fridays' staff was good too.

I was a little surprised by the 4pm check-in time, but the hotel is very nice, clean, quiet and the BEST location for visiting Universal Studios.

ROOM WAS HUMID,MOLDY & STINKY, THERE WHERE BLACK SPOTS ALL OVER THE CEILING AND A/C UNIT VERY DUSTY WITH LARGE DUST BALLS. ASKED TO BE CHANGED TO ANOTHER ROOM. CLERK SWITCHED US TO ANOTHER ROOM ON THE SAME FLOOR--CARD READER AT THAT ROOM WOULD NOT LET US IN. BUT THIS WHOLE WING HAD A BAD ODOR AND SMELLED WET. WENT BACK TO FRONT DESK AND CLERK SAID SHE WOULD UPGRADE US TO A NEW REMODELED SUITE. THIS ROOM & WING WHERE MUCH BETTER. DON'T KNOW WHY THEY WHERE BOOKING ROOMS ON THE 811 SIDE. WHILE THERE, HOT WATER WENT OUT THURSDAY NIGHT AND CAME BACK ON FRIDAY NIGHT. UNIVERSAL IS NOT WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. IT IS A GOOD MILE OR 2 AWAY, EVEN THOUGH I DID SEE PEOPLE WALKING--USE THE SHUTTLE SERVICE. OUTDOOR CARD READER WORKED INTERMITTENTLY AS WELL AT OUR ENTRY POINT. WE OFTEN HAD TO WALK AROUND TO FRONT ENTRANCE TO GAIN BUILDING ACCESS. THE 1ST ROOM WHICH WAS NOT A SUITE DID NOT HAVE A MICROWAVE OR MINI FRIDGE, SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND IF YOU ARE STAYING 6 DAYS OR MORE.

This hotel was terrible. Basic amentities were missing like a fridge and microwave. the fitness center was a joke and the ants in the bathroom were not fun. The rug looked like someone got killed and bled out.
