Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites ACROSS FROM UNIVERSAL ORLANDO

I had booked a king sized bed in a deluxe suite thru [...]at this hotel. When we got to the room, it was a suite, but there was two double sized beds in the bedroom. I figured it was a mix up. So we went back to the reception desk and they were completely unhelpful and basically told us we had to deal with what we had. I was extremely aggravated. My friends came with us to this same hotel, booked standard rooms and got upgraded for free to that same room we had. I ended up paying more for a same room as them and I didn't even want that room.Other than that fiasco, the room, hotel, pool, and attached TGIF were all nice, clean, and convenient. I just wish I could have gotten some sort of compensation for my frustration.

The hotel itself smells funny. It smells like a hotel that went from smoking to non-smoking and the stench lingered. They upgraded us to a suite for free though so that was cool. All in all, it was a good place to stay for someone not staying for the actual room.

All employees were kind and solution oriented. They treated me with respect and always gave me and smile. I had some technological problems with the wireless and they solved it in a timely manner. Housekeeping employees always did their job, keeping the room clean, fresh and bring items as requested. This was one of the best experiences I had in any hotel, only surpass by those hotels who offer, in the package, the continental breakfast.

The hotel provided a comfortable and affordable environment. The price was very reasonable, the rooms were immaculate and the staff was professional. TGI-Fridays provided the perfect meal without travel.

the location was A perfect distance to universal studios.the beds where comfortable the pillows where great. now now the cons. the room had a connecting door to another room that the people kept trying to get in our room. the TV remote did not work,the tub did not drain. when you took a shower you finished in 4" of water.the nite before we where at the holiday inn express there we got breakfast for $90.00 a nite and here we paid $135.11 and if you wanted breakfast buffet it was %.99 per person so i found out you spend just a little less money you actually get more

Had reserved a two-bed, smoking room. There were none available for two days so they gave us a two-bed suite for the week -- it was great, convenient to elevators, etc. and since we don't smoke in our own house, stepping outside was no problem. Very nice, clean, and convenient to Universal. Rented a car because we planned to spend four days at Disney properties.

20 min. walk to Universal. Very safe. TGIF on site. You select go to this hotel because of it location. Hotel room are clean.

This was my first real trip. I enjoyed seeing the lizards but hated the sun. My sister had her birthday in Florida, and we got to relax in our hotel room. We went during spring break so it wouldn't interfere with our college classes. We didn't pay much for the hotel, and we were there for the Harry Potter theme park @ Universal Studios. The hotel room was nice, until we found out that there were those little gold fish crackers under our bed, the dishes were not cleaned when we got there, and house keeping came twice while we were there for our five day trip. And my sister and I found out that they didn't even change our sheets. I did my share of reading the reviews before we came, but I figured that the reviews were from angry people...they are not all from angry people. I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Seattle, Washington which proved to be amazing! So, I'm not sure why we were treated so badly. My guess is that we didn't pay the top rates, so we got treated badly for it. Also watch out for the gift shop, make sure to watch as they ring you up. We didn't, and ended up paying for more than we actually got. Tax in Florida is 6.5%, this will help when budgeting. It was pretty expensive for us, we went with less than 500 for spending money. If you can afford it, go for the suites! They have a kitchen and will cut down on your total expenses. I also suggest that you map out the area. There were shops we didn't see for days.

it was a great stay..good facilities and services

The hotel itself exceeded my expectations (especially after coming from a moderately priced Disney property). While I did not book a suite, I received a suite on the 8th floor--complete with kitchen, living area, bathroom, and bedroom. Additionally, the staff at the Universal desk were extremely helpful, not to mention it was a short walk (approximately 10 minutes) from Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
