DONT BE FOOLED BY NICE PHOTOS
They literally BOLTED THE IRON DOWN, and this is the first hotel I have ever stayed at without a refrigerator or coffee maker in the room. This hotels NEW style doesn't overlook the customer service or the lack or "common" amenities in hotel room. If it came down to which is more important MODERN looks or CUSTOMER SERVICE I would choose an old carpet hotel with good service. At checkin the front staff was just rude and unwelcoming I felt like cattle being herded through without any polite or welcoming comments, just rude. Then on checkout I wanted to provide feedback regarding our dirty room. So I said to a different girl at the front that our floor in our room was so dirty and STICKY (they have laminate in the rooms not carpet) and it might be a good idea to mop in there. She SAID feel free to write a review online or call our manager. SHE DIDNT CARE AT ALL! Her comments were not sympathetic or apologetic just sarcastic and basically moving me along, next cow, next cow. It was VERY rude. I didnt engage with one staff member who didnt make me feel like cattle. I would never go back here or recommend it. I live in fla and stay at IDRIVE all the time, this is by far my worst experience. ANY other hotel would top this one.

Regular Room - Great Value
We needed a place to stay for 3 nights in Orlando that was a safe and comfortable place to stay and this served us well. The facility is four very large buildings with a pool in the center. The rooms have recently been redone, but not completely remodeled. Housekeeping was also a bit haphazard with a bit of hair on the floor and the towels sort of all akimbo on the towel bars. The plaster is pretty rough in places and it's just a bit basic. However, the beds are clean and comfortable, the flat-screen TV is nice, the bathroom has a new counter-top, sink, tub, toilet and it all works. Expect a regular room in a large hotel that opens to a balcony or sidewalk with a great pool area in the middle and you will be happy. The location is on international drive right between universal and Disney are there are a ton or restaurants and fun things to do right on international drive.

Great for price!
For the price we paid we couldn't get a better deal. Close to most parks. Restaurants all over. Pool was excellent for kids and adults. Everytime I requested something it was always resolved.

Clean, cheap, no frills
The "resort" is an updated motel. It was clean, very basic #cheap furniture, tight bathroom, no handheld shower, etc. Under $70 it's a good value if you just want a basic, bare bones motel. Nothing fancy here but if your going to Disney and just want a basic place to crash, this is a decent place. If you want something for the kids to do before or after your activities, I'd look elsewhere. I would go back as long as the price stays under $75 and I only plan to use it to sleep. (Oh yes, Queen not full size beds are a plus and they were comfy#.

"Resort"
My wife and I stayed here at the beginning of May. The pictures give the resort more justice than it deserves. This "resort" is a refurbished Howard Johnson's. The Staff was great don't get me wrong. The hotel has a fresh coat of paint over the old Howard Johnson's paint job and the painters did a poor job. The paint is messy and must have been done very inexpensively. Our room had a laminate flooring and walking across it my socks became blackened with dirt. The furniture was of cheap quality and the bed had a sheet metal frame that sounded like a cymbal every time you sat on the bed. The night stand closest to the door had no power to lamp because there was no power outlet to plug it in. When we first entered our room I felt like we were in a motel # as the light in the vanity had a burned out bulb and overall cheapness of the room. My wife and I spent 8 nights here and 8 nights with little to no sleep because of the noise from the freeway behind the hotel. The bath towels must have came from the old hotel because they were ripped and torn on a number of days that we stayed. The staff failed to replenish the bathroom tissue and after a day at the park with out bathroom tissue can be a problem. Daily we would return to our room with the phone flashing that a message was available however we could never retrieve the message even with the front desks help. Another issue was there was no ice machine or vending machines on our floor we had to wander down stairs daily as the elevator was broken some of the time. The pool area was nice, the lobby was nice and the wait staff did their best to accommodate us fix what they could while we where there. Maybe staying at the Disney Resorts has spoiled us over the years, but we will surely never stay off resort again while visiting the Orlando area. Overall - I would have to say great local, close to everything but the hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt into a real "resort".

Avanti "Resort"
Upon our arrival at the Avanti our first impression of the lobby was not bad. However as we moved to our room it was clear that this was no resort. In fact the staff from a local restaurant advised us this used to be a Howard Johnson's. The pictures look nice and the pool is great, but the rooms are a joke. The flooring is a laminate type material and the furniture is cheap. When you sat on the bed the sheet metal the makes up the bed frame woud bang ...so much for getting up to use the rest room in the middle of the night. The night stand on one side of our bed had a light that did not work, the reason no plug in the wall to plug it in. The staff brought an extension cord to plug the lamp in while we were there. The vanity lighting is CFLs and one did not light. The bed linens were nice, however the towels were old and tattered. House keeping was poor leaving our room without toiletries (paper) not great after a day of theme park foods. The elevator was broken and there are missing ice and soda machines on some floors and housekeeping in the elevators ans stairwell was subpar. All rooms do not have mini friges and microwaves.Although the resort amenities and housekeeping sucked the front desk staff did their best to appease my wife and I during our stay. Overall we will never stay off Disney property again. Our advice stay away.
