Great staff and great location in South Beach

Enjoyed the hotel. It is large for the area. I chose for it's proximity to Lincoln Road Mall and the Ocean drive scene. Smallish but very nice and modern room. Staff was amazing - I rarely had to wait more than a couple of minutes for attention, whether inside, at the pool or beach. Service was really outstanding. Valet parking is expensive but on par with the area and it is such a great location - park the car and walk. Two pools however both are small for this size hotel and overrun by kids. Plan to relax at the beach or not at all. Beach amenities - chaairs, towels, fruit, water provided. Very attentive staff and reasonably priced menu as well. I will absolutely return again.

Not a 5 Star Hotel

This is my 3rd time staying at this hotel. I love the location. It is right in the heart of South Beach - a block from Lincoln Road Mall and Ocean Drive. The staff was very friendly however they were not on one accord with the amenities. I did enjoy the complimentary bikes available. But breakfast is not included. I read many reviews on websites that said breakfast was included but some people get vouchers and some do not. Not sure how this works. Same with the complimentary happy hour drink. Some people get vouchers, some do not. I was disappointed that I paid 5 star money for a 4 star hotel. I will definitely stay again just with less expectation. The room was nice and clean but a little tight. The resort fee of 21 per day gets you an umbrella and 2 lounge chairs beach front. This was nice but of course you are paying for it.

Horrible

I checked in at 4:00 PM; I was out of there by 8:00 PM -- the same evening. The hotel is undergoing renovations; thick layers of dust everywhere. The carpet in the corridor was threadbare. My own unkempt basement is in better shape than the Royal Palm. The restaurant is closed for renovation. The swimming pool is soon to be closed. This was a troubling experience. I felt sorry for the place. There was comfort in knowing I was not the only "guest" who opted out. My chest had begun to tighten because of the thick dust in the room. I had so much difficulty breathing that I had to get outside. The manager did apologize, saying "some people just can't deal with this..." In a year or two, I am certain the hotel will be fabulous. Until then, find another place to stay.

Spring Break 2012

The hotel was nice but had some unpleasant events, first of all you pay a resort fee and you receive a paper telling you whats included yet when we went to the beach they tried to charge us for chairs. The room was not vacuumed, the garbage was not changed, there were not enough towels for 4 people and not enough pillows and no blanket for pull out couch. Other than that is was very nice, staff was great and friendly, the nicest were the luggage guys and valet car guy.

Extra Fees

This hotel was a great place to stay. It was in the heart of Miami Beach and super close to tons of shopping restaurants and bars. The pools and beach were great as well. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only real negative was the additional $21 per night for internet, beach towels, use of chairs at beach. This really should just be included in the price of the hotel. It only covered 2 chairs on the beach and if we wanted an additional chair it was $10 more dollars. This was not an optional fee either.

better than average but short for excellent.

location is more than super.$40 for parking is high Renovated room is good but needs more towels. Old rooms is too old(I booked 2 rooms). Use public parking on 16th street cost $1/hour.Room needs light for reading. Hallway is too cold for comfort..Anyway,same price this hotel is better than the ones along Ocean drive (old, small, must cross street carrying a chair for beach, noisier,no swimming pool).

Unpleasant Stay

Although centrally located, Royal Plam lacks customer service. The highest-class suite in the Shorecrest Tower did not have curtains fully covering the big windows directly facing the bed and the living room. We asked three times for curtains and never received any. The towels were dirty and frayed, the recently renovated bathroom shower was already infested with mold. Furniture was beaten up and the carpet was old. Even though the hotel requires all guests to pay $20 resort fee, there were days when no service and chairs were available at the beach. We hope that with the new managment there will be a better service and quality accomodations and amenities.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Norkies, Peruvian Restaurant, especially the chicken plates - highly recommended. 1429 Washington Ave. We have tried many restaurants over the last 15 years, but this one is the winner. The food is always freshly prepared, delicious and inexpensive.
