Great stay

I am a very picky person, so I am always hesitant when choosing hotels. This was a great choice. I stayed here for a night for my husband's birthday. We went to see the Heat play. The staff was very friendly and the hotel and room was extremely clean and cozy... Only negative, no free wifi. I would think if your spending so much on a room the least they could have given their guest that. We ate breakfast at the restaurant, kinda pricey but it was pretty good

New York to Miami

The room was not as desireable as advertisements display. The description of a double superior bed is misleading when in all actuality it is simply a room with double beds. I did not like the $7.95 fee charged to use the computer for an early check-in of the airline when departing. However, the experience was an overall very nice one. The staff was accommodating. The hotel is very beautiful!

Miami Blues

Hotel Intercontinental is a great brand and great chain -- however the Downtown Miami has much to be desired. Mainly - the only "ocean view dining" was a small trailor sized restaurant on the pool level with a limited menu and no ambiance. For a property ON THE WATER -- this was huge disapointment. The Hotel also does NOT have windows that open - unlike many properties on the Beach, Finally -- big disapointment -- there is no Airport Shuttle and this could be nice touch for business travellers as Cab Service is 50/50.

Very Good Hotel but does not leisure guest friendly

This was an excellent hotel in respect of the location and quality of the room but appears to aim at the business market. They they were ready to hit you with additional charges wherever possible - the rather expensive mini bar was directly wired to the billing system !. As a leisure guest I was surpised that there was a $15 daily charge to use the gym (even if only for 15 minutes) I would have expected this to be free to guests. (the room information pack did not mention this charge). Would choose a more leisure guest friendly hotel if I ever returned to Miami

Overall good experience

Went with the family with two little ones. Overall the hotel was good. However some things that you need when traveling with younger kids will cost you more. We asked about having a microwave in the room and we were told it would be 25 dollars per day! The concierge was great and staff were very helpful. Location is also central to all there is to see in Miami.

Great Business Accomodation

I stayed here on a overnight business trip. Through some quirk of pricing this hotel was the cheapest hotel downtown that was above a 2 star rating for that night. For the price I paid it was really an incredible value. The room was luxurious and Modern (with a capital "M") and a great retreat for an on the road business traveler. My one complaint was the lack of promptness on the end of the housekeeping staff. I have a down/dust allergy and when I arrived checked the pillows and immediately called down to replace them with foam. I placed the feather pillows outside my door and awaitied their replacements. An hour later there was a knock on the door from a hotel staffer asking about the pillows in the hall way. He took the feather pillows and said he would check on the status of the foam pillows. 2 hours after I called for the replacement pillows I left to eat dinner in the restaurant and the pillows had still not been replaced. When I returned to my room after dinner it was now approaching 3.5 hours since i called and I still had no pillows. I called again a this time and within 15 minutes my replacement pillows arrived.

Fantastic location for first timers

The hotel staff was delightful and accommodating. When I first walked into the hotel, I would have expected to pay TWICE as much as I actually paid. The bathrooms are HUGE and have complete closet, drawers, plentiful counter space, and a mirror for face close-ups. Inside the bathroom, the tub and toilet are located in a separate area. I had a view of the bay, Biscayne Park, Miami's Skyline, The Port of Miami, and the American Express Arena. This hotel was rated #1 Best Hotel in Miami in 2010 and I cannot imagine another hotel surpassing the Inter-Continental's amenities, location, quality, and cost.

Bayside is walking distance from the hotel. I enjoyed Bubba Gump's Shrimp, shopping, and city and boat tours. Perfect location for first time visitors to the MIA.
