Not as great the second time around
I stayed @ this location a little over a year ago & stayed on the 4th floor. The room was large, the bathroom was huge & the beds were large/comfy, This time around when I booked this room I expected the same. But that wasnt the case. Our room was in the back of the hotel where it felt was the original hotel. Run down, old & dirty. In the defense of the hotel I called right away & they moved us into the tower on level 3, I just feel bad for those people that get the room & dont know that they have rooms way better for the same price. Also it was just me & my boyfriend in a room with 2 full size beds. Yes they were comfy but way to small.

Royal Plaza Hotel
This is at best a 2-star hotel. The maintenance is shoddy, the staff are poorly trained, and the add-on costs make it at least as expensive as other, nearby chain hotels. It is near Disney's Magic Kingdom, and has "free" Wi-Fi, "free" local calls, "free" bus service to Disney theme parks, and "free" self-parking, but for these "free" amenities, the hotel charges an $18 per night "resort fee" and every guest has to pay for these, whether or not they are used. In addition, whoever designed the layout for this hotel arranged for the least convenient routes for guests to get to and from their rooms. There are better hotels nearby.

It is not possible to travel directly from one Disney hotel to another on the free Disney shuttle buses. Instead take a bus to Disney Downtown and transfer to the appropriate bus going to your final destination.

Great stay in a fantastic hotel!
My husband and I travel frequently and stay at many of the best hotels in the country. One of our favorites being The Bellagio in Las Vegas due to the level of service they provide. I have to say that the level of service we received at The Royal Plaza was just as good. The front desk personnel, especially Natasha, were exceptional. The room we were given was in the tower and although the hotel was older and it did not have alot of the amenities we are used to- the room was great. We were given a room on the 16th floor with a view of Downtown Disney and the fireworks. The room was very clean, fresh smelling, nicely decorated and had a great bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed the room and hotel so much, we extended our stay. The staff at the Giraffe Cafe was very nice too. The entire staff at the hotel that we interacted with were great. The only thing that could have made our stay better was if the televisions in the room were newer, a refrigerator was in the room and if there was ice machines closer to our room. I had to go to 5 different floors looking for ice- they do not have ice machines on the floors above level 11. We come to stay in Orlando every few months and we will return to stay here. The location was also very central. The traffic gets a little backed up in the area but it is close to the interstate, Downtown Disney, the parks and the outlet malls. It is also not a bad drive to the Universal area. The complimentary breakfast was also a plus- it was a hot breakfast not a continental like many of the hotels serve.

Birthday getaway
The staff was very nice and helplful. The only downfall was that i could not watch any movie channels on the tiny TV while relaxing in the room. Overall, had a great birthday getaway though.

Nice stay
It's a nice hotel. Some plumbing issues and television reception was horrible. Food was decent in the hotel, nothing to get excited about, but overall it's clean and a nice walk to Downtown Disney.
