Not a Good Hotel
The Royal Plaza in the Wal Disney World Resort was quite a shock for me. I was expecting it to be a really friendly and family oriented hotel. Upon arrival from the airport (around 12:30 PM), we had to wait on the room until 4:00 PM, which meant we had to set in the lobby and wait. I kept going to the desk and asking if our room was ready, and was told that they were still cleaning it. When we finally did get a room, (which was around 4:05PM) it was on the 10th floor, did not have a refrigerator (which I was told they were out of, and would not have one until the next day) and was a non-smoking. Once we did get the refrigerator they charged me $75 for it and when I called I was told it was $50 (also in the hotel information book in the room it was listed at $50). I also, thought that the $8 a day for towels was ridiculous. All other hotels that I have been to had a refrigerator in the room and never charged extra for towels. This hotel was very expensive to start with and then included this on top of it. I would never reccommend this hotel to anyone, not would I ever go back to it.

Don't stay here
We did not have a good experience at this hotel. Our first room had an extremely loud air conditioner that did not keep the room cool. We asked for and were moved to another room. This room was better but not by much. We had friends staying with us and their room was covered in mold and the bathroom fan fell out of the ceiling. The elevators were broken much of the time we were there forcing us to either use the stairs or in one instance a staff member allowed us to use a service elevator. We would not stay here again.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ON DISNEY GROUNDS
The key cards to the room and the lobby gate to get in and out didn't work after requesting new cards, security was sent over and the cards still didn't work so I explained to the hotel staff I just got off Disney Cruiseline and considering this property was on Disney Grounds I was completely unsatisfied with the way I was treated and the service I received. Then I was charged $8 for self park and $8 for some other fee which I feel both fees should have been waived since I was inconvenienced and there was an additional $50 room holding fee. The ice machine didn't work and I needed ice to keep my sons bottles cool(infant)considering there wasn't a refrigerator in the room. I will never stay at this hotel again nor will I reccommend any friends or family to stay here.

WorldVenture Travel Representative
There's nothing worse than bad service!
I was in Orlando attending a cheerleading competition, doing some business networking and looking into some investment properties in Cape Coral. On the night I checked in to the Royal Plaza, I specifially asked for an upgraded room (i.e. no smoking, more quiet, etc.). I also mentioned that I was a travel representative for WorldVentures Travel. I was given a room on the 2nd floor (#262) right by very noisy occupants (screaming kids and parents on both sides), loud music, it was located by the outdoor pool, people were smoking below my window outside and in the hallway, my room was musty, two of the outlets - including the one for the coffee maker (very poor model-did not work), the alarm clock did not work (very old radio), the heat was not working properly, my card was de-magnetized and I waited over 20 minutes after security was notified and I was finally let into the room by a cleaning person who verified my ID, and the list goes on. I had called the front desk to see if I could have someone look at the defective outlets and heat because it wasn't working and reply, "I'm so sorry...sorry about that, I'm sorry to hear that..." I could tell that person was trying to end the conversation but I insisted that someone needs to check out the issues. After approx. 1 hour, someone came to look at the outlets - not the heat - and said he didn't know what to do. Every day, I went to inquire about a car rental. The two individuals at the desk told me there were no car rentals available and they told me to go check with one of the other hotels down the street. They did not assist me in any other way (what did they do for the 5 days I stayed there and there were no cars available during that entire period???). On one of the nights when I went to inquire about a car, there were two men working at the car rental desk - one was helping a man and I waited patiently for assistance. Another customer walked up to the counter - next to me - and the employee asked him "can I help you?" and did not acknowledge that I had been waiting for assistance. After that experience, I went to the front desk and took a customer feedback card. The front desk clerk said "can I help you?" I told him that I was going to fill out the feedback card and it wasn't going to be a positive response. His reply, "I can only imagine." He did not bother to inquire as to what my concerns were. I told him I was a travel representative and he then said, "oh, well sorry about that." Please know that I was not trying to be pushy or bossy but rather I was just trying to get some assistance or possibly get a different room. Each time I had an interaction with the staff at Royal Plaza I did not get any assistance or solutions. And each time I mentioned that I was a travel representative in hope that they just might realize that perhaps their poor service and the overall rating of the hotel could be communicated to my travel clients, the employees would simply say, "oh, I'm sorry about that." I stayed at the Royal Plaza from 2/9-2/15/11. And during my stay, the ONLY hotel employees who were pleasant were the housekeeping and maintenance staff. The entire front desk staff, with the exception of a young man named [...], need extensive training on customer service. When I mentioned to [...]that my stay was not a pleasant one, he waived the resort fee, gave me a card with the manager's name and email address, and apologized. He was the only employee who took the time to listen to me - the customer. Unfortunately, I would rate the Royal Plaza as sub-standard/poor. Before chosing Royal Plaza, I compared hotels in the same area. It appeared that the Royal Plaza had good ratings, it was slightly less expensive than other big name hotels and I wanted to see if the hotel quality was similar to the big name hotel chains (Hilton, Hyatt, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, etc.). Unfortunately, for a little more money, I will recommend the big hotel names due to the drastic diffe...

RUN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!!!!
This place was a nightmare from start to finish. At check-in the front desk agent hardly said a word to us as she was too busy smacking the gum in her mouth and taking calls from irate guests complaining of one broken thing after the next. Prior to booking this hotel my husband called to book the nicest suite available, when we arrived at our "suite", every other light was burned out or in-op., probably one of the hotel cost cutting tactics, however the lack of adequate lighting made the already outdated room feel more like a budget motel. Our tube TV didn't work, once fixed the remote didn't work. We stayed 3 nights and never once received new towels, or housekeeping of any sort. The hidden fees were ridiculous $10/day for parking, $10/day for internet, tourist tax, resort fee, etc, etc... Downtown Disney is not within walking distance, and the noise level was insane. We will never stay here again, and caution anyone else who is considering this place.

When i checked in at 1pm they told me my room was not ready and that check in was at 4pm. Then when i got back they told me it was $10( i was not aware of this) to park as well as the $8 resort fee(which i knew about). The person i spoke with stated that since i booked through a third party they are not responsible and that it is on their website and was very snooty about it to me. The room was just OK no special care taken, there were stains on my sheets and rugs were a little dirty. For a Four star hotel they did not take care of their walkways at all the dirt was really bad and disgusting. I usually stay on Disney property and now i know why. The expierence i got was not one i would like to remember.

Needs to be brought into this century
The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. However - the television was ancient with very bad reception, it did not react to the remote control. The 'menu' button on the remote didn't work, so the technician told me to press the zero ?? We tried to purchase a pay per view movie (Paul), the screen got stuck at the 'Buy' stage as no buttons would work. Technicians advice - just press all the buttons, one will work. On our third night we managed to purchase Black Swan, only to find that there was no sound on pay per view channels that night. The only alternative to pay per view was twelve channels nine of which were showing news, the other three showing paid advertising or similar. Dimmer switch for lamp beside bed inoperable, power outlets inoperable. The area directly outside elevator has nooks obviously built for a statue or plant display, but they had been removed so the area was bland and empty. We decided to eat at the restaurant for lunch, we were seated, but only after asking to be seated - then no-one appeared to our table to get drinks or serve us so we got up and left. From the film Avatar...... this hotel is sad, sad only.
