Disney's Pop Century Resort

I was at Disney for a conference and worried about comments I'd read from other reviewers about the "value resorts." Fortunately, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Although I heard snippets of voices from time to time, I couldn't hear everything people in nearby rooms said. (To be fair, I'm not sure there was anyone in the adjoining rooms.) The housekeeping staff didn't wake me with loud conversations. The once unpleasantness: Toilet flushes from other rooms were clearly audible. The cafeteria could be a zoo in the evening as parents brought in children who were over-tired and should have been in bed. But I was surprised that the food choices were as accommodating for a vegetarian as they were. Vegetable soup, vegetable sushi, etc.

I was working at a conference this past week and chose this hotel due to its value and proximity to the conference. I had a lot of luggage to carry and had to walk it over a considerable distance from the parking lot to my hotel (1970s building). The second issue was that the hotel did not have an elevator so I had to bring all my luggage to the 4th floor several times throughout my stay. It was a hassle. I would pay extra next time to make sure I can easily transport my luggage.

I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference at the more expensive Disney Dolphin hotel. I was disappointed in the quality of the room ammenities. For the price, this was equivalent to a 2 star hotel on International drive that would have cost a lot less. Room was clean, but lowest quality sheets, towels, room amenities. Essentially a Hotel 6 with Mickey Mouse on the bedspread. I think if you are going to the parks it is convenient to take the bus there but I did not use the buses.

Waited on a line for check in/out. Wrong line. Did not give shortest route to room. I parked my car walked to my room, and guess what no key in the package. The food in the restaurant area was horrible.

From check-in to check-out, it was the usual great Disney service! Was staying there for a conference (at another hotel) and didn't like that Internet was an extra $10 a night, but other than that, it was a great value for the money paid. The rooms are a bit small, but for me, that was okay since I basically was using the room just to sleep in each night. The location was pretty central to all the parks and the Coronado Springs (with its conference center).

For those needing a room primarily for sleeping, the Pop Century is ideal. It has the numerous Disney benefits available to Disney hotel guests, but cuts back on some typical hotel services, like bell hops and sit-down restaurants.
