Beautiful resort

We checked in for 3 night stay to celebrate my birthday. Our room was ready at checkin which allowed us to unpack and hit the park! The monorail transportation was great- but bus system is dreadfully lacking!!! After waiting for 45 minutes for bus to go to Hollywood studios- we decided to take car for the rest of park visits off tge monorail. The room was pretty but didn't have enough storage space- bring plenty of hangers to hang things bc the 6 tiny shallow drawers are only sufficient for socks and underwear!! The pools were nice but there were no kids games around pool like the other deluxe and moderate resorts. The grounds are lovely! For the money, and give the long waits for transportation- I'd recommend either a less expensive resort (wilderness lodge or beach club) or staying of site! Yes- I said it. Staying offsite will get you more room, same time frame for getting to park. You do lose some of tge Disney magic outside tge park, but it may be width the sacrifice and saving hundreds of dollars!

What more could you ask from a hotel..Newly renovated rooms were just beautiful. The location of the Grand Floridian can't be beat.Just one stop on the monorail to the magic kingdom.Club level was nice they kept light snacks and drinks stocked during the day.At night beer and champagne with an assortment of sushi to chicken nuggets.Good selection of desserts served later on in the evening.Staff did a good job of keeping food areas stocked and clean.

Almost a Five

The location is PERFECT, if you are planning on going to the Magic Kingdom. The grounds are GORGEOUS. The rooms are nice, but a little on the cramped side for a family. The lobby is absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is the value. At $520/ night for the most basic room, I feel there could have been some little extras. We were looking at the Wilderness Lodge and the GF and there was a $220 difference a night!! That is significant. I do believe the GF is nicer than the wilderness, but I am not sure $220/night worth. Overall, though we had a fabulous time and enjoyed our stay.

Make sure you cancel any restaurant reservations at least the day before or you will get charged a $10/person fee. That is a Disney policy.

Awesome even with toddlers

This place in in the middle of the action. Presumably, if you stay here it is because that's where you want to be. Monorail to Disney or Epcot. Buses to the waterparks are reasonable. We initially booked the Polynesian but switched when we found out they have construction going on. You can see it from the GF, but it was nice to not be in the midst of the cranes. And, we walked to the Polynesian for the Luau dinner, so got to see it anyway. What we loved was that GF is not as over-gimmicky with all the Disney themes. They're there, but very elegant. Our primary concern was that the GF was not as kid-friendly as the other resorts. That turned out completely unfounded. Kids are everywhere and perfectly happy. Great pool(s). Outdoor kids movies at night. Character breakfast onsite. Kids even fit in well at Narccoosee's, which was awesome fine dining (and we've eaten at Alinea, Trotter's, French Laundry, etc.). Get a room facing the lagoon, and you can see/hear the water parade at night, the horns from the boat ferries, the fireworks, any music from MK. It's a delightful place, but certainly expensive. We figure that in 5 years our finances won't be affected by the extra $400-600 that this cost over 4 days. Highly recommended. Also, we bad reviews of the Magical Express transportation from the airport, also unfounded. Seamless in both directions, especially with toddlers.

Family vacation

It was great place to stay, room is about average, on our last day it was horrible, the cleaning personal knock on the door every 30 mins starting 8:30 am, between 8:30 am to 11am when we check out, the cleaning personal knock on the door 5 times, plus 2 phone calls to remine us to check out early, as if they are so afraid that I won't leave that room, unbelievable..., doubt if we will book the same hotel next time

Dated and Worn Out

I expected so much from the most expensive property at the Walt Disney World Resort. I was disappointed to find dated d├ęcor, faded artwork, heavily scratched furniture, and sparse holiday decorations in my building. At these prices, I expected a premium experience. I wish I had stayed at another hotel. Save your money.

A special stay in Disney

Everything about this hotel is spectacular. The lobby is the most magnificent of any on property. We visited during the holidays, so a towering Christmas tree and larger-than-life gingerbread house were main attractions. The pools are beautiful. There are three separate pools catering to different needs. One is nice and relaxing, one is a kids dream, and another can be fun for both kids and adults! The room was amazing as well. You just can't get any better than a room at the Grand Floridian!
