family vacation

We had a great time. You can save a lot on food having the cabin. You will need to rent a golf cart to get around camp grounds $60 a day. The beds were comfortable but I wish the double was a queen.

Had a great time!

We loved Fort Wilderness. The free shuttle transportation provided by Disney for getting around Ft. Wilderness and the resort is nice but if you miss the bus or boat - you might have to wait awhile. The golf cart would help but that costs 65 per day!

"Camping" Disney-style! Peaceful fun for family.

This was our third time here. We came over Labor Day weekend and it was much busier than years before (guess that's a good sign for the economy?). But overall, we had a great time. We love the cabins here. Also love the value. Each cabin is fully stocked with a kitchen that includes a full fridge/freezer, sink, dishwasher, stove/oven, fully stocked cabinets (plates, pots, pans, utensils, saucers, etc). Honestly, if you don't want to spend a dime while you're here, you don't have to. Each cabin also has a grill. So a quick trip to a local market to buy food supplies and grilling things (charcoal, foil, lighter), and you're good to go foodwise! The restaurants are pricey and the food is just "good", not great. So we usually go off-campus to eat at local restaurants or we just cook our own food while here. There's a ton of things to do. We're locals, so we brought our bikes and took nice bike rides together as a family. Also, most of the time we didn't need to wait for busses to take us to the other areas of the site. There's an outdoor movie every night, (music, s'mores, dancing, etc.), pony rides for the little ones, horseback riding, canoeing, "fishing", horse-drawn carriage rides, etc. There are also two pools -- one "main" pool with a big slide, really cool kiddie spash area, jacuzzi, etc., and another one that's just a pool (and less crowded). The main pool hosts various activities (arts & crafts, dance parties, games, etc) Other things to note: Plenty of towels/wash cloths in the cabins, housekeeping comes every day, there are plenty of paper towels, coffee, toilet paper in the cabins. Only things you should bring besides food/condiments are maybe a flashlight (though I used an app on my smartphone), and some Off 'cause you are in the woods, though we didn't see many mosquitoes. Great fun for all.

great for a family

Great place for a family. Stock up on breakfast and lunch supplies- as you'll have a full kitchen in the cabins, and pack lunches for trips into the theme and water parks. We traveled by plane, so collapsable cooler would be a great idea. You'll see lizards, lots of birds and listen to crickets and frogs.

Disney Vacation

The cabin was nice, however we noticed at the end that the air filter was all clogged causing us all to have a mild cold. The big pool at Meadow was closed from 3pm to the next day due to a pool pump, that was highly disappointing as that was our "pool" day. There was another pool, but it did not have the water slide.... The bunk beds had a row of dust/debris in the edges, kind of gross...a quick nozzle vaccum would have helped. The charcoal grill was pretty worn down it had holes in it!!!

We enjoyed our stay very much! The cabins were perfect! We rented a golf cart that was very much needed after many hours of walking in the parks. Next time we will plan our stay so that we can enjoy more time right in Fort Wilderness. A great getaway!!

Another Great Experience

Ft. Wilderness has become out favorite family destination. There's so much to do at the campgrounds that we didn't even make it to a Disney park this year! I would suggest that you reserve a golf cart if you'll be staying over the holidays.

Great onsite Disney for >4 people

Fitting our family of 5 into a regular hotel room is a pain in the rear. This "hotel" is a great way to stay onsite for larger families. sleeps 6 comfortably and there's enough room inside and out for everyone to relax. We've stayed at offsite suites but you have to give up the Disney touches. We've also stayed at Disney Vacation club suites but you have to give up your mortgage payment for the month. The wilderness cabins aren't exactly cheap but save you some money and allow you to still stay onsite comfortably.

Beautiful accommodations

Great service, from check-in process to departure. The front desk could not have been more gracious despite a very busy weekend. The cabins are actually just mobile homes with logs attached to look rustic, and that's as close to roughing it as we wanted to get. Comfortably sleeps 6, immaculately clean, with plenty of extra linens. Only snafu was our luggage was not delivered to our cabin as promised (our room was not ready when we arrived in the morning), but it was delivered quickly when I called at 2 a.m. after returning from the park. LOVE the extra park hours that come with staying at the resort!

Buy groceries before you get there: you have a full kitchen, and will want real food before and after long days racing around the parks eating fast food. The restaurants at the parks are packed, so make reservations early. The breakfast buffet at the campground is pricey but well worth the money. Great country style breakfast, all you can eat with drinks included.
