Animal kingdon lodge overpriced

We spent almost $300/night for this property and everything about it was just one attempt by Disney to get more money from us. First off, we have three kids and they would not allow us to stay in one room (claimed it was some sort of fire code rule). So we were forced to get 2 rooms. No wireless internet at the hotel, only internet is through an Ethernet cable that is $10/day. Only certain parks are open lat and early for Disney guests, problem is that there are so many hotels now on property that this isn't really an advantage. The hotel had three separate groups of sales people always trying to get you to buy Disney timeshare, shame on Disney. Last point, beds were very hard, didn't get housekeeping (had to hunt down another set of towels), and TV only had 5 channels with a bunch of Disney infomercial channels. Not worth the money.

The animals are worth it, non-existent s

The animals are fun to look at, if you can spot them that far away. Spa is open 8-8, as if anyone would use it during the day instead of a Disney park. Disastrous food - fast food and everything is pre-packaged including the tiny baby carrots and apples. No culinary urprises with shared kitchen for all three "eateries". You clean your own tables. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were WORK.

Kinda dismal Animal Lodge

Very poorly lit. Some staff (chef at the buffet restaurant) go above and beyond; others, not so much. Overall, an expensive, mediocre experience! The animals outside my window were cool, though!

Don't hesitate to talk to the buffet restaurant staff if you have special dietary needs (I'm vegan). I didn't expect much but was treated to extremely helpful and gracious service and a very decent meal!

Terrible food, Terrible Service.

This place is very limited in the places you can eat. We were told we had an hour long wait for dinner, which was fine. But an hour and a half later we talked to people who just put there name in, and had no reservation go in before us. When I talked to the staff about it, they just told us we were up very soon. The food here is awful. Both myself and my girlfriend had diarrea 3 out of the 4 days we ate there. The food tasted like it was the same stuff just microwaved everyday. I would not go back to this hotel.

Go to seaworld instead of oone of the disney parks. the lines are much shorter and you can do more fun things rather than waiting in line all day.

comfortable room [...]

Had written documentation for upgrade from a friend but after a very long wait management said upgrade was not available. Desk staff were condescending and not very helpful. I have to use a cane presently and it was a very long walk with no offer to get assistance.

Great menu and selection of South African wines. May need to brush up on the SA wine offering since they were the only ones offered but a great selection.

Not what i expected....

If you are visiting the Disney Parks like I did, don't waiste your money paying for the savannah view;save the money and enjoy it at the parks. There are many locations in the resort for you to it and watch animals from various locations. The hotel is very dark, they need lights! The lobby check in/out staff were horrible! They seem like they don't want to be there and would love for you to leave them alone! Boma is such a rip off! My dinner there for two people was close to $90. The food nor service was worth that. I recommend the dinning options at the parks. Epcot has AERSHUS and San Angel Inn with excellent food for less of the price.

Good visit, not my favorite hotel

We stayed at AKL because we ran the Disney 1/2 marathon and it was convenient for transportation to the race. The hotel is beautiful. I was disappointed that my room was changed to a safari view room from a pool view room without consulting whether I was ok with the change. The beds in the room need replacing, they actually squeaked! We payed quite a bit to stay on the Disney property and feel that these issues were not a part of the Magical experience. The public spaces were great, pool was fun, and the food was good.

Down graded us on arrival.

Hotel nice. Downgraded us on arrival with prepaid rooms. Axles as if doing us a favor by crediting us for the room difference. Made no effort to additionally compensate us until expressed that we wanted savanah view room. Needed the manager to make any additional compensations.

Beautiful grounds - so-so rooms

The lobby is impressive, the pool area is great, the savannah cannot be beat! For my money, though, the rooms were sub-par. Not dirty or gross, but just not the quality of beds, bedding, and space that we were expecting given the price. I guess you pay for the grounds, not the beds.
