Ibis Bay Resort

First the good things: Clean rooms, adequate towels supplied for the pool and bathroom. Front desk staff very kind and helpful. The Stoned Crab restaurant had excellent food. Here is what I recommend as a seasoned traveler: I chose Ibis Bay due to the Trip Adviser Reviews which I feel were generous. The room had no coffee pot, not sure why or what regulation prevents that service, but walking out to the restaurant in the morning to have a cup of coffee is just silly and inconvenient. There is no iron in the room for wrinkled clothing (not a big deal but is an amenity in every place I have stayed before). There was no shelving or counter space in the bathroom for toiletries...I recommend they place some type of shelving in these small rooms, and the trash cans were very small and did not accommodate the trash from a normal day in the room. The pool was nice except for the ongoing construction in the area. I sat down on my chair and was promptly told to move at 9 am to accommodate the construction staff, who were rude and loud. In my experience, hotels reserve night time or hours when the pool is closed to dig a hole and cement in a post for "cosmetic improvements" The room I stayed in was water front and looked out onto the bay....however when the tide was low there was a very unpleasant odor and we couldn't sit outside at all. The "maintenance" staff was located a short distance from our room and were very loud through the day which was NOT relaxing. In most places the "resort" is there for the customer experience. I don't think the price of the room was even close to being worth the stay. I understand these things are small but I found them inconvenient and in this case you DON'T get what you pay for........

The rooms were very small and needs updating. It is true they seemed clean but the handle was broken and the toliet seat looked 15 yrs old. The shower was so small you have to stick your leg out to shave. They are working on the hotel so there is construction noise in the AM. Hwy 1 is under construction and will be for 3 yrs so it is difficult to get to and from the hotel from Duval. There is no shuttle so you are looking at a $15.00 taxi to and from Duval area. The restaurant is very good but not cheap. The pool and bar are nice but it also seemed like locals were able to come in off the street and use them.

Rooms were clean, but not very big. Resort property is located on a main highway with pool facing the highway not the water. I think that the lighting in the room could have been better, in addition to adding a mirror outside of the bathroom. It was hard for multiple people to get ready at the same time with only one mirror in the bathroom. There also wasn’t a lot of room to hang clothes with no real closet and no iron or ironing board in the room. Stoned Crab restaurant on the property, but service was terrible. After waiting for 15 minutes for someone to take our order, we walked out. Resort is located outside of the action in Key West and not really in walking distance. You would need a car or taxi. We did rent bikes and ride to town and the beach during the day, but had to take a taxi after dark. This resort might be ok for someone who wants to be away from the action, but I would recommend staying closer to the downtown Key West area

Very clean!! Room we had was extremely small. Resort itself looked very nice and location on the water was nice but not in walking distance to town - paid about $30 in cabs a day. Restaraunt was very cool and staff were very friendly. As far as the place itself I would recommend but personally I would probably opt to stay closer to town next time. But we had very bad weather so we didnt get a chance to enjoy any water recreation so that may have made a difference. Worth it for the money compared to other places.

First arrived thought there was going to be a parking problem.But not.We stayed up front some noise from the bar area and pool to late night .Motel grounds were maintained nice and clean.Pool was nice.Found the hammocks were territorial.All were by the slide doors of other rooms.Room was cute,clean.Bed was comfortable.Liked the area around the motel.Stores and shops near,made it nice to run if you needed something.Felt safe on the grounds.

I have never had such a relaxing vacation. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff made me feel at home and were very helpful directing me to locations I wanted to see as well as some ideas. I did a lot of walking and visiting historic spots over the Island. I knew when I got back to the Motel I would have a relaxing time at the pool and well as excellent food at the Motel restaurant. I just can't say enough good about The Ibis motel and the great food at the Stoned Crab Restaurant. If I get to go back to the Island I will make that the first place to stay

Rooms have been remodeled with a fun beach style including a lizard painted on the ceiling. Staff very competent and helpful. The resort name has actually named the bay. Next to the resort are big bird sanctuaries for ibis and pelicans.

My mom and I stayed here for 2 days in Key West and found the room so charming. We had a double which looked out onto a palm lined beach with colorful hammocks and the local birds. The room is super cute and the place has been updated. The only negatives were that the room was actually on a beach so we did drag a lot of sand into the room. Maybe put some beach runners over to control that? The location was quiet and I really liked it.

Given the price, it was surprising to see such a small room. Although, it was decorated very nicely. There were some other issues, specifically with the staff in the mornings. I had the unfortunate luck in being across from the pool. It seemed that the crew cleaning up every morning had to yell instructions to each other. I was woken up by them every morning at 7:00 am. I am supposed to be on vacation.....

My room was very small and smelled like smoke. The people were very nice and the hotel was in a central location.
