Wonderful family celebration
This hotel has charm and character, giving us a great opportunity to celebrate a family milestone event. The 'old fashioned' decor and lush tropical pool/garden were a welcome change from the 'cookie-cutter' atmosphere found so often. We loved it!

40somethiing no more
Goodbye 40s
Wanted alone time to say goodbye to my 40s. The picture of the pool drew me in,don't let it fool you. This place was horrible,the exterior going to your room is very dirty,and smells like urine all the time. The staff was aloof and unkind,not once did any of them make eye contact. Three times my door key stopped working,at 6 am the second day a goon decided it was ok to blast music n the parking lot,security had to get involved .I will say the room was ok,but other than that this place was a HUGE LET DOWN,,, :( run the other way fast as you can.

the hotel was decent. however, the hotel should provide more accurate pictures. the pictures that are on display depict a posh ,lavish setting. it rather distorted to say the least. the hotel looks like a bad new jersey setting. ie the venetian statues ,the metricious ambience and the trains that run along tracks throughout the night. ie there a strong disconnect between reality and the pictures, it is accessible and i would not have aversion to staying there again. However make certain request a quiet area, alot of college kids who party and become loud late at night or early in the mornings

Nice Lobby
The Universal Palms Hotel has a very nice lobby, worthy of a more expensive hotel. However, the rooms are average and quite "tired". There's no fridge or microwave oven in the room, and it's fairly tight. Carpet was stained all over, airconditioner was very loud. Worst thing is that it's extremely close to some rail tracks and trains come by every 30 minutes or so, with the horns blasting. Not an issue if you're a deep sleeper...

Take a drive along A1A North from downtown Ft. Lauderdale. It's slow (35 mph speed limit) but it's very picturesque...

Great place to stay!
Clean rooms, great staff,great pool & bar! It's not the Ritz,but for the money well worth it! Down side no on site restaurants,no refrigerators in rooms. There r plenty of restaurants in walking distance! If you like the beach 10 mine. away! Going back in sept.

couple getaway
Hotel was great We had issues checking in due to a canceled flight that had delayed my trip a day. The people at did not handle there business but the hotel made it work and give us free cocktails for our troubles

The hotel was good, like the Roman style decorations and the staff was nice - Our door card did not work, we had to call someone to come open it everytime. They promised that it would be fixed the next day it never happened

what the heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no reservation they had to call yall to find it that took over an hour they blamed yall,,,,,,,,,,cops had hotel surrounded for over 3 hours no one was allowed in r out i was stuck out my kids were stuck in......a hotel guest was robbed in the parking lot at gun point....$7 breakfast was stale bagels and moldy jelly!!!!! $2 coffee!!!...it was the worst continental breakfast i have ever had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............the restaurant was out of business in the hotel so eating took on travel time...it took 2 days too get our bathroom door repaired so it could shut....the maids threw away the parts to our air pump and air mattress.......soooo the only good thing was the pool!!!!!...........but no hot tub...........sad place to stay very sad........... john s
