Wash DC great Local!

The setting of this hotel is perfect, nice rooms & amenities. Some service spotty, but for a big hotel somewhat acceptable. Will not get any personalized care--such as the keys did not work for some reason the 2nd night and it was a drawn out hassel to remedy at 10pm at night and little apology. I also have a mystery charge on my credit card now from Hilton for something I have no idea about & its being disputed . The location has just the right balance of places to see, unique, quality places to eat and shop at right along CT. Ave. ,side streets from Metro to the hotel...The hotel has a vibrant lobby, BUT food offerings within hotel are kinda pricey. A plain bagel w/ butter in the "to go cafe" there was $4.50 where as the little independent convenience store steps from hotel had fab smoothies and a bagel for a total of about $5.50! Unusual find...

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

On Sunday there was a great farmers market right south of hotel--eat yr breakfast there! or a MUST SEE is the Firehook Bakery for lunch or breakfast or takeaway! #42 Bus took us right from hotel to the fabulous Museum of American Art /Nat'l Portrait Gallery --and then walk to all other Smithsonian sights from there! perfect to see parts of DC reasonably and not to deal with dreary metro hassel! City bus was clean and most pleasant bus drivers! I only had a long busy wkend , but wished I had got a bonafide bus map as I just stumbled upon that method of getting to see stuff midway through trip...

Terrible stay

We stayed one night at this hotel and paid over $450 for it. We had booked it through an online travel agency. In short, worst hotel experience we've ever had given the price. We did have one "hotel" experience trekking in Nepal that was marginally worse, but we paid $2.50 for that room... First, front desk at check-in pretended breakfast was not included. I had to search through emails to find the reservation and show it to her before she grudgingly accepted it. Second, hotel was fully booked so they gave us a horrible little room on the ground floor that they must set aside for bookings that come in through online travel agencies. Third, room had issues: a) Bathtub plug didn't work (one of those fancy push-down ones so our portable rubber one that we always bring with us didn't help). We had our 5-month old with us and desperately needed to give her a bath after our trip but couldn't because the tub would not fill up. We called front desk (at 10:30pm - we had checked in a few minutes before) and they said they would send the engineer to come fix it asap. An hour went by, no engineer so we put baby to bed - takes a long time because she's hot and dirty and uncomfortable. Finally she gets to sleep and phone rings at 11:45 pm - front desk saying engineer still delayed. Baby awoken but they were keeping us updated, so can't blame them. But we told them engineer no longer needed since baby was asleep, and please do not call again. 12:30am - phone rings - baby wakes up. Front desk says engineer is now available. We whisper: "WE DONT NEED THE ENGINEER ANY MORE. PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB US FURTHER." We spend another 45 mins trying to put the baby down. Somewhere b/w 1am and 2am, someone knocks on the door (despite the Do Not Disturb sign on the door). Baby wakes up again. It's the friendly engineer. So for our $450 we basically got 2-3 hours of sleep because of the inability of the front desk to communicate with their operations staff. b) Bathroom sliding door would not open from inside so you were locked in unless someone from outside lifted it up from the bottom.

Great property with the best amenities

We came for a weekend away from NYC. After seeing this property I know for sure that if I were returning on business I would definitely book here. Nicely laid out for business or pleasure. Room was small, but the amenities made up for it. Hotel is nicely situated walking distance from Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan. Both fun areas.

Attended a Wedding

The location was great and the room was nice but very small. The breakfast buffet was excellent! The only thing that really bothered me was having to pay $40 per day for parking!.....I'm already staying at the hotel so why am I being charged for parking? That alone can discourage guests from coming back.

Was a good experience, especially for the money

Was a great place. My only complaint was that the room was a bit smaller than the pictures indicated it would be. There was a bathroom, a bed and a chair. it must have been about 300 square feet total. It was definitely good value for what we paid given the location but I just felt the pictures were misleading.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

I've either stayed or been at tons of DC hotels and for the price we paid (204 total for one night) the Hilton was perfect. Sure you could find cheaper, but you pay for what you get. pros, the bed was super comfy and staff. Cons, the Valet fills up by 6pm on the weekends, so if your just getting the room for a night and want to valet your car get there by 5pm. Otherwise there is 20 dollar overnight garage parking across the street, located in the same building as Ruth Chris (spicy lobster is excellent). We were just using the Hilton to get ready for a night out and crashing afterwards, but it was a great choice. Also, request the 10th floor, there is a cash bar / lounge and you get free breakfast up there from 6 - 10am. Our room was also upgraded and we got late checkout without even requesting either! The guy who checked us in was absolutely cool and hooked us up!
