didn't expect much, so i was pleased

it's a cheap place, but it's better than a lot of cheap places i've been to. the desk people aren't always the most helpful, but sometimes they're beyond stellar in customer service. the elevator still doesn't work, and i'm pretty sure it never will again, so don't get your hopes up. the breakfast is pretty good, no fruit or anything like that, but you make your own waffles, get juice and milk and coffee and tea, have bagels and muffins and scones. better than one would expect at this type of place. we did have one incident where the toilet tank starting pouring out water (clean water, nothing gross) and flooding the bathroom. the desk attendant offered us another room, but he was just going to let the toilet pour and pour until the next day when maintenance was on duty. we stopped the water ourselves. that was nice of us. aside from that, everything was pretty normal. normal-sized rooms, normal-sized beds, normal-sized bathroom. it's not amazing, but if you're looking for a super cheap place in DC, you could do a hell of a lot worse.

Best suited for tourists

The location of the hotel is great, very central to go sightseeing. The actual hotel is definitely well placed in the historical section. It has needs for many repairs and it's apparent they have been working on it by replacing windows, bathrooms, etc. The carpet was very dirty and stained in the room and walls/ceiling had considerable water damage. The elevator and the business center were both not in service, which was inconvenient for a pregnant business traveler staying on the 4th floor.

Adequate

The staff was very pleasant and healpful. The Hotle had very limited parking only 4 spots and the rooms did not have refridgerator nor Microwave. The continental breakfast was decent. Ok if you are just looking for a place to sleep for a short period of time.

good location butttttttt

the location was great it was 3 minutes from everything we wanted to do. But as i was checking in i over heard like 4 people talking about there are items missing out of there room such as a laptop and other expensive things which ment people that have access to there rooms were stealing from the guest. Thankfully i only was there for a day. No vending machine. The "continental breakfest" was a joke it was a waffle maker....period. I will never stay here again.

No ... worst hotel experience ever

[...] Dirty, absolutely filthy carpet and wallpaper, elevator doesn't work so you will have to carry your luggage up flights of stairs, super noisy -- definitely not for business travel unless you want to try to sleep through partying noise until 4 AM every single night. Calls to the front desk will not stop the noise. Also: holes/cracks in the walls to the outside. I can't believe they say it was rennovated in 2007 -- could it has fallen into such a state in just 4 years? [...]a kind of hostel that is only a little better than a homeless shelter.Only good quality: a convenient location in the Dupont Circle area.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Since the only people who should be desperate enough to chose this hotel are ones on a super-tight budget, be aware that there is a Whole Foods supermarket a block and half away where you can get water, drinks, snacks, food . . . However, there are not refrigerators in the hotel rooms, so be prepared to just buy what you can eat that day.

Shabby but clean and cheap

Nice renovated bathroom, rest of the room kind of shabby and beat-up. But clean and reasonably comfortable, good location, great price.

It was ok for the price.

It is not fancy. It is a well-maintained old building. The attention was good and all the basic services worked fine.
