A little jaded
did not meet the description on this site
This site characterized the room as being 525 square feet in size and having a "separate living area". The room was small enough that the king sized bed took up nearly all of it (i.e., nowhere near 525 square feet) and the "separate living area" was a small desk and single office chair, both hemmed in by walls on three sides. A lot of noise from the hallway intruded into the room at night.

A weekend Away!
The town was fully booked due to Cherry Blossom season. Our first night we had a basement queen sized room which was small with basement type windows. I went to the front desk and requested a room change if possible. They accommodated us almost immediately on the top floor with a much roomier queen sized space and called us to make sure that we were happy with our new room and also gave us complimentary round of drinks at the bar restaurant. The service alone would make us return and the downtown location was phenomenal!

Perfect location
Great choice to stay at for a Verizon Center event. When leaving the concert, everyone was pouring into the subway and parking garage and we had a short stroll 200 yards. Very accessible to the Metro.

Short walk from hotel
The Shakespeare Theatre is one block away on 7th St, and Ford's Theatre is a few blocks in the other direction. Take in a play if you can; both are lovely and historic venues.

Great Location Quiet Room
Excellent location for the activities we had planned. The hotel staff was helpful and understanding when we asked for a different room (I wanted a bathtub and the first room, very large, only had a large shower). We were disappointed that the bar was so crowded we could not find a place to get a light meal .... but I guess that is a sign of how popular the hotel has become. I would recommend this hotel -- especially if you can get a bargain rate.

Great Location to See People
In the heart of downtown, in the center of the action, Hotel Monaco is the perfect location for drinks, meetings, or even the right place to stay if you're meeting people all over the city. The only complaint could be that the rooms are a little small, though very comfortable. However, the Hotel has great character. Will stay here again.

Fantastic location
rooms have 15 foot ceilings in country's first federal post office. My 3rd stay there. Really a fun place to stay. Very good restaurant located in hotel. Across from the National Gallery of Art and the Verizon Sports Arena. Junos is a good tapas restaurant also across the street.

Excellent
Great hotel, great location. Hotel Monacos are always good and good value. Only negative I can think of is that the restaurant needs restrooms on the main floor.
