Very Pet Friendly

The entire staff made our stay memorable. They went out of their way to accommodate us. On check-in there was a sign welcoming our pets. The wine in the evening and cookies at night was above and beyond what was expected. I highly recommend this property to anyone with or without pets.

Comfortable and accommodating

The Hotel Madera was very accommodating when it came to comfort and convenience. Traveling with two other guests, I needed larger beds to accommodate us. The Hotel Madera was practically the only hotel in the area that gave me the option of larger beds. I was also looking for a boutique style hotel as well. The Hotel Madera was just that and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the city.

great location, lovely hotel

The Madera is a lovey ecco-friendly hotel, with gracious staff, complete with a complimentary happy hour wine tasting, and in the morning a coffee set up so you can easily take coffee back to your room. The Firefly lounge/restaurant adjoining the hotel was also a nice stop after a long day, although I did not dine there. My room came with two heavy bathrobes and socks for use, in the event it was cold. The location is superb, just off Dupont Circle, and to my delight, an easy walk to my favorite bookstore on Connecticut Ave. Lots of restaurants also within walking distance.

Kramerbooks & Afterwords is a short walk, open all night on the weekends for dinner, books, wine, jazz. Also along the same street are other coffee/pastry shops and dining options, and the metro is there as well if you want to go further afield.

Great Location

The Hotel Madera is in the heart of Dupont Circle. Close to restaurants, metro station, and numerous nightlife activities. It's a short walk to anywhere. From the outside the hotel doesn't look too appealing but the modern decorations and renovations to the interior are a welcome surprise. The bathroom was a bit small but the room was spacious and comfortable! Restaurants, bars, clubs, metro station and grocery store are all within a short walking distance.

A French-Caribbean restaurant is a short walk down P street. The portions are small but well worth the price!

Nice get away hotel

Had a quick trip at the Hotel Madera. My first stay. It was a nice get away hotel in DC close to Metro, Georgetown, and other attractions. In a safe location. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was upscale but still comfortable. Parking is by valet only and takes a several minutes to get your car back. Comfortable bed. Had a balcony room and enjoyed an adult beverage watching the fall sunset in the city.

Very nice

We like to be close to Dupont Circle whenever we go to DC. This hotel is very close to the Metro. We were very pleased overall. The only negative was the small size of our bathroom. All in all, it was a great value; We will stay there again.

Great boutique hotel

I travel often, and the Hotel Madera was as good as a 4-star hotel can get. It has very large rooms (we had a queen deluxe with two queen beds), high grade linens, classy and funky decore, and free Internet access in the room (my own laptop). There was even a balcony which overlooked the charming street. The restaurant is marvelous -- not typical hotel fare. It is obviously a popular place to eat for many persons in the DuPont Circle area. This is a great boutique hotel within easy walking distance of many DC attractions.

Great Dupont Circle/DC location

The Hotel Madera was in a great location, just two blocks off of DuPont Circle. The room was large with a nice outdoor balcony. The appointments were art deco in style. The headboard was in a beautiful dark blue fabric resembling velvet and the furniture was all in a deep dark wood. There was a very comfortable seating area with a couch and a chair which had a nice floor lamp for reading. There was also a desk with adequate plugins and an internet hookup for laptop users. The vanity area was a nice size with a separate toilet/shower area separated by a door. They provided cool animal print plush terrycloth robes which you could also purchase if you wished. In the evening, guests were invited to the nightly wine tasting featuring wines of the world which was complimentary and served in the lobby area. The restaurant, Firefly provided excellent meals, which we sampled for dinner and Sunday brunch. The staff was friendly and efficient and we would definitely recommend Hotel Madera to our friends and would also gladly return.
