If you can avoid brining a car, it would be better because parking is terrible. But the location is great! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I just didn't stay long enough.

Mother and daughter trip
Overall I gave this hotel a 4 because of the tempurpedic beds, cleanliness of the room, quality of the bathroom (tile, granite, contemporary shower design), quiet (never heard other guests nearby), and location. The art deco style was as pictured on the website, however the room was somewhat smaller than pictures. The parking was true to the other reviews I had read. We arrived early to get a spot (only about 15 parking spots--all full and some illegally parked--had to back my SUV out of the tiny driveway onto New Hampshire with the help of a bus driver parked out front) and had to go around the block many times while my daughter went in to get directions to a parking garage (we ended up paying $25 a day for a garage 2 blocks up the street). The staff was courteous after we arrived. The lobby area was surprisingly small and not impressive. The comfort of the room, location, and value made up for the parking inconvenience. We were there to see the memorials and museums and were pleased with our trip.

Dining tip:
In Hotel
Bring your own breakfast items as this hotel does not have a complimentary breakfast. After an $8 sliver of chocolate cake one night at the bar/restaurant I was afraid to see what was offered for meals. The rooms have a nice kitchenette with dishes, silverware, cooktop, frig, and microwave.

Good Quality
Art Deco style Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was during a heat wave at the time and it was nice that the front desk offered free water bottles for returning guests. I would definitely consider staying here again. Only wished that it was close to more of the shopping areas.

Wonderful intimate hotel in a great location
Art Deco brought up to date with beautiful marble and granite in a residential setting with embassies as neighbors. Superb staff, very friendly, polite and helpful. Room had two comfortable queen beds a granite kitchen area and granite and glass bathroom. Very clean. Walking distance to the White House museums and monuments thru the downtown area (although after a day of sight seeing the family preferred a cab ride home). Highly recommended.

Time-saving tip:
Long walk from hotel
A walk to the National Mall is very doable (35-45 minutes depending on the age of your children with plenty of shopping and dining options on the way. We did it most mornings but later during our stay took a cab to get to the Capitol Building in time for our tour appointment. A cab ride at the end of the day is a good idea. There is no need for a car (and not any parking for that matter). The subway is 0.7 mile walk and the bus route is just a few minutes away. We took the train to the Smithsonian and it was great. We did not use the buses.

Loved this place
The Carlyle is an "oldie but goodie" Suites hotel. The rooms are large, with sitting area and wide screen TV, the kitchen has a Keurig Coffeemaker, a microwave, stovetop and refrigerator along with a basic set of cups, glasses pots and pans. The breakfast was reasonably priced and omelets cooked to order. The Front Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside (and an important one to me) was that there was not fitness center in the hotel. I am not sure how many rooms they have but they could easily convert one to a fitness room. A gym pass is offered, but it is some distance away. So, all in all, I would definitely stay there again, and hope that a fitness room is added as that would make it even better!

DC Family Vacation
The location of the hotel, size of the room and service were just right. We arrived from Annapolis via cab and used Super Shuttle back to BWI. We bought trolley tickets at Embassy Camera store on Connecticut and used the Dupont Circle Subway stop; both very convenient. Great pizza delivery and grocery as well as restaurant options, from Indian food to Subway sandwiches all nearby. The best was the HOTEL and the PERSONAL service we TempurPedic type beds were comfie and the pull out sofa worked for our youngest. Kitchenette allowed for breakfast and leftovers. Very clean room and great housekeeping. We will be back!!! Can't say enough about how great this hotel was for our needs (actually am tempted to keep it a secret!)

Great family getaway.
The room was nicely furnished and worked very well for our family of five (kids ages 8, 10, & 11). The location is an easy walk to the Metro and nearby restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Carlyle Suites and will definitely stay there on our next visit to DC.

Great Stay
I was skeptical to book with this place reading other reviews. The interior is very up-to-date. Microwave, frdige, and burners in rood. Very quiet. Temperpedic matresses. Free parking. Close to all attractions. One block from many restaurants. The staff member, Dave took very very good care of our family. When we could not find parking in the lot he took me out to a seperate section helped me park and told me this lot is for VIP guests. He also made the commment "Welcome home" when we got back to the hotel at the end of the day. The staff and hotel are 5 star in my opinion and I stay at a lot of hotels that claim they are 5 star. Thank you.

Great Family hotel
Perfect.Couldn't ask for better. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a light short out and they came up very promptly to fix it. Super comfy bed and fluffy thick towels. Having a kitchen with microwave, fridge and stove top meant we could have breakfast before we set out and the couch and TV set back in an alcove meant sleepers weren't bothered. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel which is also nice. Breakfast buffet available at a reasonable price. We would definitely stay there again! Quiet, attractive neighbourhood and a pleasant walk to the Metro-about 6 minutes
