Quick Visit to our Nation's Capital

Our room was ready upon arrival even though we didn't expect it until late afternoon. Being in the Dupont Circle area was fun and invigorating. It was easy to navigate the Metro system and see the sights. We loved being greeted with, "Welcome home!" after walking and touring the city all day. As Bostonians, we were devastated by the news of the explosions at the Marathon. However, we were comforted by the courtesy and graciousness of the staff. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Many good features

location, kitchenette, suite arrangement all pluses; as well as good deco design, pleasant and functional restaurant and bar, and good music selections. Jordan at the desk was exceptionally helpful and helped me and my business colleague have a really smooth stay.

Great DuPont Circle location

The hotel has a great friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hotel's breakfast buffet is a good price in this neighborhood. This hotel is in a safe neighborhood for walking to restaurants and the DuPont Circle metro. On weekends, on street parking is free in the neighborhood, a great savings over valet parking. This is the second time we have stayed at the Carlyle, and we will return again.

Cool residential location

Hotel is a bit dated but comfortable. Less than 10 minute walk to DuPont Cicle metro through a very nice residential area with embassies and other types of interesting occupants. Hotel is great if you don't need or want a lot of superfluous add ons. Just a decent clean room with free WiFi.

When dining within walking distance head towards Adams Mogan for more options. Area around the Safeway not ideal for "families".

Go north on New Hampshire, take the first right, then another right. You are now on 17th ST, plenty of restaurants of all kinds.

DC trip with family

We arrived at the Carlyle around 1230. Our room was not ready as checkin wasn't until 4pm but they allowed us to stow our luggage and park our car which was great. We hopped on the metro and started our sightseeing tour. We returned around 7 pm exhausted and were given a warm welcome by the desk staff. Our room was very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. We had 2 double beds and a sleeper- the boys flipped a coin for the sleeper and the unfortunate one who lost the toss said the sleeper was very uncomfortable. This was really our only complaint. The hotel is fairly close to the metro and a safe walk. There are a variety of Cafes and restaurants in the vicinity as well as the onsite restaurant which has a buffet breakfast that the boys enjoyed. Overall it was a great place to stay.

Not sure what happened

Not sure what happened to service in this hotel but the housekeeping staff at this hotel is unusually hard to deal with. They did not fill the coffee supplies unless asked to and did not even replenish the shampoos in the bathroom. The front desk staff was friendly but they did not offer to move us when the rooms near us filled with noisy high schoolers and we complained.

DC Trip

From the moment I arrived, everyone was friendly & helpful. When I needed directions the next day or had questions throughout my stay, the staff was knowledgeable. Abou & Bernadette were terrific. David on the other hand, was not rude to me but to his fellow staff, talking in a condescending manner. Not cool. My room was very comfortable, clean & inviting. I would definitely stay here again.
