Good location but older hotel
The hotel is in a great location; slopeside near the gondola. The rooms are clean and everything worked as expected, but the hotel is on the older side. The only other complaint is that their WIFI was painfully slow.

Perfectly Adequate
The hotel is in a great location relative to the base of the mountain. It is walkable to a lot of activities and we had a great view of the base area from our room and small balcony. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. It isn't a luxury resort but it is an affordable alternative in a great location. The continental breakfast was heavy on sugary items and the coffee wasn't great. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall our experience was fine.

Great small lodge, cozy atmosphere.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Great little bar, nice small diningroom and lobby, all with fireplaces. Loved going out the door and skiing down to the gondola. Good jacuzzi and pool. Friendly and helpfull staff. Only drawback was that it is a bit noisy.(thin walls)

Excellent value for the price.
The hotel was clean and nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back again. Our room overlooked the base of the Steamboat ski area.

The dining close by is pricey and mediocre. Take the short drive into downtown Steamboat Springs for a better selection and value.

Stay at Ptarmigan Inn, Steamboat Springs
Great value! Hotel room was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This is a pet friendly location and they only charge one flat low pet fee for the entire stay, not per night like other hotels. The hotel is located right at the base of the mountain walking distance to the gondola. We traveled in the off season so there was some construction, but not an issue. I highly recommend this hotel and definitely plan on staying there in the future.

Little less than a mile walk to the Yampa River and a very nice bike/walking path that will take you right into downtown.

Very affordable
The front desk staff was very friendly and rather helpful. We arrived a little earlier than check in time hoping they might have our room ready. They did and cheerfully accommodated. The rooms were very clean which made you less aware of the aging decor. My only real complaint was that the floors/walls were extremely thin compared to many hotels I've stayed in. (We could hear the drawers being open and closed repeatedly by the OCD person above us several times a day, lol) I suggest trying to get an upper floor to remedy this. A great value.
