Howard Johnson Express Inn S Lake Tahoe CA

This was the most un-comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in. The bed was TERRIBLE. The shower was not cleaned once during our 3 day stay. The towels were so thin that you could almost see through them. When we called the front office to ask for more towels we were told to go find one of the housekeepers and ask them. The price was cheep, but I will never again sacrifice comfort for price. It is very hard to enjoy your days when you cannot have a good night sleep. The pillows were the smallest pillows I have ever seen. I really have nothing good to say about this place.

Went on the off season. Check in was quick however we felt like we were troubling the desk person from much needed sleep. IN THE AFTERNOON!!!! anyways as we drove by the pool and the water was dark green. After a long drive I wanted to chill in the rooms jacuzzi to find out it does not work. Called the front desk and they said that they would have the Maid look at it the next day... The next day coming back from the casinos we did not get enough towels, they actually left 2 unfolded clean towels over the door knob. When we asked the front desk person for more towels she gave a what the hell do you want from me look.. Took a few minutes to actually convince her that the maids left only 2 towels but we succeeded on getting the towels. Next there was a LOG still in the toilet (YUCK) also they left 2 dirty towels on the floor next to the tub. Oh they also never fixed the jacuzzi. I walked over to the desk and asked about the jacuzzi and she just laughed it off and didnt even say sorry. We were one of 4 rooms that were occupied out of the entire establishment. HOW HARD IS IT TO TAKE CARE OF 4 ROOMS? One long disaster avoid at all cost.. On the 3rd day we both had some sort of flea or bed bug bites.. Pay up for the nicer hotels.. I did get my revenge by taking all 4 muffins from the free continental breakfast. Stay AWAY

The room was not ready for check-in when I arrived and then they gave it to another party while I waited by their pool. They then wanted to give me an upstairs smoking room because that is all they had left. When I refused they were able to find me a non-smoking downstairs room. The room was clean but the toilet backed up almost immediately after check-in (with first use). They worked on the toilet for almost a half-hour to tell me that it was the best that they could do and I would have to hold the toliet handle down until it flushed completely. I had an extremely difficult time communicating my problem with the front desk. Bathroon sink stopper (plunger mechanism) was also broken and the only way to drain the water out of the sink was to place a washcloth under the sink stopper lip. Tried to convey that also to the maid service and front desk but they did not understand what I was telling them. I accidently ran into the maintenance repair person and he followed me back to the room and I showed him. They did not have enough parking or overflow parking for the number of units they have and ended up having to park behind their unit in the motel parking area behind them and then prayed that I would find it their the next morning. My granddaughter forgot her toothbrush and the front desk was displeased that I asked for a complimentary one but I was able to get one after I pointed out that it was one of the items listed on their paperwork they had left on the bed. Had a problem also getting an extra towel from the maid service when I requested one also. I WOULD NOT recommend this hotel to any friend, family or anyone else. Sorry

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty The shower was a bio hazard - Full of Mold and Mildew. The room was grimy and the walkways had not been swept in some time. Very comfortable bed and convenient location though.

Rooms were very small, beds are ridiculously hard. The staff was unpleasant, only two towels per room. Smallest shower ever. The free breakfast was minimal..pretty much toast and juice. Pool and jacuzzi were broken and disgustingly full of mud and garbage. Worst hotel ever.

THIS HOTEL WAS CHEAP SO IT FITS THE 2 STAR CATEGORY BARELY. THE STAFF WAS NICE BUT NOT TRAINED AT ALL. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE HOTEL IS THAT IT IS BEHIND A NICE HOTEL THAT IS ACTUALLY RIGHT ON THE LAKE.

The hotel was mediocre at best. Changed rooms to a smoking room. The toilet keep clogging, and the bathroom fan made a horrible noise. The ice machine was turned off and had to wait for them to turn it on to make ice for drinks. Location is good to everything. Room was small, but clean. Breakfast was a voucher at a restaurant that was like a greasy spoon and covered very limited breakfast items with no changes or upgrades.

The hotel itself was perfect location, but it was not very clean nor very updated. I would think they would make it a bit cleaner for guests.

hotel was ok. nothing special i guess u get what you pay for.

Average experience at this hotel but good location. Was outdoors most of the time.
