From the Big Pines Mountain House, it is a two-minute walk to the shore of scenic Lake Tahoe and a five-minute walk to the casinos, restaurants and shopping of Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The outdoor heated swimming pool (seasonal) is as popular as the private beach. Pets are welcome (fees apply).

  • Walking distance to skiing, boating and golf
  • Access to private beach
  • Seasonal heated outdoor swimming pool
Rooms

The decor in the 70 spacious rooms is standard motel fare, with floral or velvet bedspreads and a small sitting area, but all rooms come equipped with cable television, a coffee maker, free Wi-Fi and free local phone calls. Features

After enjoying a complimentary continental breakfast, guests will want to curl up in front of a floor-to-ceiling stone hearth and gas fireplace in the lobby. Cute, Cozy & Close

The room was very small, but neat & clean. Still using the old fashioned tvs (couldn't use my Google Chrome Cast to watch videos from my phone). The bathroom was especially nice. The pool area was small, but well maintained. The lobby was really cute and well decorated. The bathrooms in the lobby were especially cute. This motel is just 4 blocks from Harveys Hotel/Casino & the beach!!

Your room key gets you into the private beach (Lakeside Beach) which is just four blocks. It's best to walk it, so you don't have to pay a parking fee.

Good value

This hotel is very conveniently located to Lake Tahoe as we as to the casinos. Shops and the Heavenly lift is also close. While the hotel is nothing special, it is clean and quiet.

Decent location, dated hotel

The hotel looks great on the surface. Had attended a wedding in South Lake Tahoe and asked for early check-in.. Was told they didn't check anyone in early, however I watched 4 or 5 couples check in after my request. I was able to check in 10 minutes early and barely made it to the wedding. The air conditioner did not work well, the floors were gross and the windows had no screens. Okay because it was simply a place to rest my head, on my own pillows..and it had a mini fridge. Otherwise, I would not have stayed.

Cont your towels

This place seemed like one of those family run establishments that offer little (breakfast was very skimpy), and expect a lot from customers (there was a note in the bathroom reminding us that they would check the number of towels, washcloths, and hand towels upon our departure, and if there were any missing, our credit card would be charged. We made it a point to let them know that we were not given a floor mat for the bathroom the second day so they would not charge us for it, and the lady at the front desk noted that comment on our "room record". When we checked in, the room was hot and the small window-type air conditioner worked hard to cool the room, which took more than four hours to move the temp to a comfortable level. Additionally, they also gave us a note stating that towels would be changed every two days, unless we requested daily changing, which we did...

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The best breakfast place, with the best value was a small casino, The Tall Timbers. The food was plentiful and very good. The most expensive and least value was a little sandwich shop called, The Keys Cafe. We spent thirty bucks for a couple of half sandwiches and small salads and smoothies...crazy! Would have been a better value at $15.

Excellent stay in Big Pines

The room was really good with a fully equipped kitchen. It was clean and neat. Staff could have been more friendly and breakfast was average but overall a good stay. Will definitely stay there again

Great location

Loved the location. Short walk to the beach and to the gondola. Hotel room had fridge and microwave (essential, in my opinion). Wi-fi wasn't always the most reliable, and the breakfast was pretty basic. But good price for a great location.

Nothing fancy but does the trick

I spent a week here and enjoyed the stay. It is not fancy but clean, not quiet but earplugs work well. There is shopping and casinos nearby and the lake is a few blocks away. I liked it.

Great value, but needs improvement

Price was excellent. Location excellent- easy walk to main part of town or to lakeside. Room size was good and bed was comfortable. Excellent customer service. We had a few small issues that were taken care of immediately. There is an obvious attempt at good service by staff. Breakfast was surprisingly good for a cheap motel... We had bagels, yogurt & granola, oatmeal, milk, and O.J. Shower gets hot instantly and stays hot the entire time. Organic soap and conditioner in room-thumbs up to that! In room, paint was peeling in bathroom. Husband complained about how loud the shower is while in it and that the nozzle was too short for him (he's 6'). I was hot in the room. It has a window cooler, which barely made it cool enough for me and was so loud to sleep with on through the night. The hotel advertised a pool table. I didn't see one. Also mentions private beach access. We never figured out where that was, though we should've asked and didn't.
