Horrible! I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel but I also wasn't expecting this... The room had tons of ants , construction behind the hotel starting at 6am went to take a shower either freezing cold or scalding hot water no in between the best part
was when we were packing up to leave we put our bags on the bed and found a cockroach so I went to the front desk to complain and the manager Camillia was arguing with me telling me it was not a cockroach it was a waterbug (i have pictures to prove that it is in fact a cockroach) and disregarded everything else i said but she did tell me i would be getting a discount on the room (only 20%). I never did get that discount because of false allegations of smoking in the room. So if the sandman inn is your last resort i recommend sleeping in your car it'll be a lot cleaner guaranteed

Nothing to write home about...
The hotel is pretty old but the location was great. You could hear EVERYTHING in the room below along with both rooms on either side of us. I know it's Santa Barbara, but for $165 per night, I feel like there was a lot to be desired.
The beds
were pretty awful and the pillows were weird. And the towels were "kind of scratchy" to say the least. I'll buck up the extra cash next time and stay somewhere else next time...

Room was tiny. Whole room smelled of mildew. Paper thin walls. Interior walls could use a new coat of paint. Would not stay here again.

Room with a view!
The beds are so comfy....I sleep better than I do at home! The continental breakfast is great, a little something for everyone. The view of the foothills is an extra perk. I have stayed here 3 times and it will always be my place to stay when I
come to Santa Barbara to visit my son.

Standard Room in Santa Barbara
The room was small, old, dimly lit, and strongly smelled of an unknown cleaning product. The bathroom was very small with lots of plaster cracks. The shower head was no more than 5' from the tub. Very poor water pressure. We will not be staying at
the Sandman Inn on future trips to Santa Barbara.

Good location, nice staff, decent value
For the most part, it is a good hotel. Conveniently located, comfortable bed, pretty clean. Had a little refrigerator and microwave. Good value. We would stay there again for a short weekend get-away.
Only one chair in the room made it
uncomfortable - certainly not the place to stay if you plan on spending any time in the room.
Front desk staff were great. Very responsive to requests.
The house keeping staff didn't know how to make the bed - the sheets weren't tucked in and messed up. Didn't replace the same number of towels as they removed - minor details but annoying.

Great value
We stayed at the Sandman in for four nights and would definitely stay there again. It's convenient to many things while still being a quiet, restful place. The grounds were lovely and allowed us to sit outside and see a lot of beauty in our
surroundings. The continental breakfast offered extensive options and the staff was helpful. The accommodations were a little small but included a fridge, microwave, and TV-- and it's not like we went to Santa Barbara to hang out in our hotel room.

Acceptable, but that's it.
There's nothing actually wrong with this motel. It's moderately, but not exceptionally clean and acceptably but not exceptionally comfortable. They've clearly sunk a lot of money into a remodel of the exterior, and it's lovely, but the inside of
the rooms are standard roadside motel issue.
Although I can't find anything wrong, I simply do not feel that one gets good value for one's money - there are other places to stay within a few miles that are comparable and more reasonably priced.
