Great little place

I normally stay at hotels closer to the beach, but this time I was on a budget so I decided to go a little farther. To my surprise this hotel is literally walking distance to all the hot spots of santa barbara. Very nice simple place without any bells and whistles. Quiet, clean, and nice. Can't really complain.

Acceptable for the price we paid

A little far out State Street but doable on foot. We staid in one appartment with 5 people which worked out alright. Since the windows weren't real windows, we were freezing during the night (it was only March, though). Bathrooms were okay, other guests a little weird, but that's alright for the slightly over 100 Dollars for the room (so about 20 Dollars per person). Overall not exceptionally pleasant, but okay for one night.

Lone night in Santa Barbara

Unless you like walking, the Orange Tree Inn is not suited to travelers relying on public transport. After being greeted by very friendly, efficient reception staff, I was disapointed to find the room to be dirty, including many stains on the carpet. Very thin walls will keep you up at night, but at least there's a back escape route to the swimming pool.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Try to use the Downtown Greyhound (until it's shut down for good), as it's much closer to the hotel.

The Lemon Tree's red headed stepchild

Same owners as the Lemon Tree and cheaper rates. It shows. I was put in a handicapped accessible room and it took 20 minutes for the shower to get even lukewarm. Stay here, but keep expectations low. Better amenities than Motel 6 though.

Great staff, decent rooms

We stayed at the Orange Tree Inn just one night and didn't want to spend alot on the room as we weren't planning on being in it much. The location was fine, not close enough to really walk anywhere, but we took a cab and for $10 we were in the heart of State Street. The rooms were clean, the staff was incredibly friendly and kind, and overall our stay was great. I would absolutely stay there again. The only thing was the website said the pool was heated and there was no way, it was freezing cold.

it was just OK

You get what you pay for holds true here. The rooms are tiny with bare minimum accommodations. There's no fridge for those leftovers and the bathroom is just strangely designed. It looked more like a converted closet. But it's good enough for a one night stay. The staff was friendly throughout. There is pretty fast free wifi. The location is a bit far from the downtown, but it is walkable to the nearest shuttle or bus stop.

It is good hotel, but...

We stayed in the Orange Tree one night. The staff was friendly and efficient. But the bed in our room was so firm, I felt like I slept on a bare floor. One pilow per person is not enough to compensate firmness of the bed. I would suggest to peole with back problems not to go to that hotel unless you like self torturing.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The Santa Barbara Shelfish Co. restaurant is amazing! Short drive to the pier. The first 90 minutes on the pier parking are free, which is enough for good dining experience. Food is delicious and inexpencive.

Good Price for the location

I guess it is not bad at all, the location and cleanness where quite fine. They might need a little bit breakfast to add like many other hotels in the area
