First of all I was only here for work in the area and only stayed 1 night. The room was very small but clean and the price was great. Front counter people were super nice. I had no problems here.

Lost my 'cool'.
When I arrived, the clerk was very pleasant & accommodating in the office. However, when I got to my room, I found that the refrigerator, which I paid extra for, was not working. It was turned up all-the-way, so there was no need to wait for it to get cold. The room was colder than the refrigerator, and there was water in the 'drip tray'. I called the desk clerk & he said that it was the chain's policy to keep the refrigerator temperatures low for "safety" reasons (really?). I told him that I was 61 years old and I know a broken refrigerator when I see one -- could he please come up and take a look. He refused several times, until I told him that I wanted to check out. THEN, he came up, but by that time I'd decided to follow-thru and check out. I NEEDED a refrigerator to chill the cold goods I'd brought in order to avoid the expense of eating out. I got my $ back, but it left a bad taste in my mouth to not be taken seriously. There was a nice motel next door for $4 more, and the refrigerator worked perfectly.

Very Nice for the price
The hotel was clean, the staff friendly. I liked the room decor - modern. It had a desk with a booth seat that I liked and felt comfortable working at my laptop. The staff (too bad I didn't catch names! I'd list them here for kudos) was exceptionally nice. I hadn't been there before and they helped with all my needs/wants. THANK YOU!

clean and sage
Rooms are small but beds are comfy and clean. Bathroom counterspace limited but bathroom itself is spacious. Great accommodations for the price. Staff are friendly, helpful and prompt. Can't go wrong!

Mediocre overall
We chose the Motel 6 based upon its price and location on State Street, and due to its pet-friendly policy. We were mainly looking for a comfortable place to sleep, and would have welcomed some breakfast, however meager. We drove up in the morning from Pasadena, had lunch at Stearns Wharf, and then made our way over. The room was tiny, one of the smallest places we have ever stayed at, albeit with well designed, compact furniture. More troublesome was our smoky, "non-smoking" room, complete with cigarette burn through the main blanket. The towels were low grade and the only toiletry provided was some small bars of soap. The pool looked inviting, but is not heated. According to the manager, "they made us take out the heater"; not clear who "they" was, or why. The owner? The corporate parent? To make sure noone wants to use it? The driveway is poorly graded, making it difficult to get around without bottoming out, and the morning coffee is bland, with nothing to accompany it save large cans of sugar and powdered creamer. I suspect we'd have gotten better value most anywhere else, even if we'd have to pay a bit more. Several other places on State Street looked more inviting.

good and inexpensive
I was not looking for anything fancy. Just a place to rest my head. This place did the trick.

Decent price for one night stay but lacked blankets n heated pool
I stayed here for only one night. The. Room was ok. Flat screen tv and clean.but the blanket provided was not enough. Had to ask for an additional one. Price seems decent considering it's Santa barbara. Prabhakara

Not bad
I stayed here one night to run a marathon the next day. It was a good stay for a decent price. The clerk was nice and accommodating of my request for a quiet room (away from the road). The tiled room floor was a little off-putting, and the decor was hip for IKEA circa 2001, but the room was clean, and everything worked. I got a good night's sleep. Also, FYI, there is a restaurant, Max's, conveniently directly across the street. The restaurant is evidently known for breakfast and lunch. I ate there for dinner, when it serves Italian, and the meal was quite mediocre. Luckily there was an AM PM within walking distance, and I got some snack food there to tide me over.

Good value
Our stay was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A bus stop for puplic transport to downtown was directly available outside of the motel. The only little spot of bother was that we found some hair from the house keeping staff here and there (e.g. on the towels), which is not too nice... Still a good place to stay.
