Loud and noisy

(-) My room was close to their parking (on the first floor close to the gym). I was continously hearing the loud noise of their staff talking/laughing together ( I am assuming the parking staff)... it was hard to sleep... It didn't seem like they paid any attention to the rooms right behind the parking space... (+) The room was clean.

Great Location

Very nice - bed was comfortable, room was clean and was quiet. The AC did come on and off all night which was a bit annoying but over all would stay again.

Good Stay

Rate was a bit high for the size of the room, but it was clean, tidy, the staff was friendly, and the bed was very comfortable. Would stay here again.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Valet parking is $26 a night but there is plenty of street parking. Just make sure you read the street signs for when you can/cannot park.

Parking policy

We were very pleased with this hotel with the exception of having no choice but to pay $26 a day for valet parking. The room rate should have included free parking as there was ample space available. I realize this is not unusual at higher end motels -- that's why I usually avoid them.

Great hotel in a great city

We arrived early but our room wasn't ready but the hotel offered us to use the pool while we waited. We're a family of four with two little girls so we jumped on the opportunity. The pool view is spectacular and you couldn't have asked for better weather. The bar and food were excellent too. We will definitely come back to this hotel!

Older Hyatt Hotel

While we have stayed at many Hyatt properties before, we were somewhat disappointed with several things inside the room. The air conditioning unit was loud and inefficient, and the pillows were small and lumpy. My husband spotted some black mold in the bathroom as well. The location is very nice however and we enjoyed the close proximity to the water. What's not to like in Santa Barbara?

disappointing

I have stayed at hotels in this chain before, and this one is run down and in need of a facelift. Room was definitely disappointing. Booked a double Queen with ocean view. "Ocean view" from the balcony which overlooked and was adjoined with 3 other balconies!! No privacy! I have never stayed at any hotel with this sort of set up. When I asked for another room front desk stated nothing else was available and then hung up. This might not seem so awful, but at $500/nite, my expectations were pretty high. When i asked for an itemized billl at the end of my stay, I was told that I would have to get it from online booking company. Again, I have never had this experience. Person at the desk was not at all accommodating. I would not recommend this hotel. Does not deserve a 4 star rating.

Fabulous Staff

The staff at the Hyatt were fantastic! They were always polite and helpful. The pool is warm and protected and right across the street is the beach! It is worth to upgrade as the bottom floor rooms are dark. They provide ear plugs for the noisy air conditioner. This is not a top of the line Hyatt but it is nicer than a motel.

Spring Break Getaway

We went to Santa Barbara for a short Spring break getaway. The hotel is located right across from the beach which was nice, but the room itself was SMALL for the price we paid. Parking alone costs $26/day which was not mentioned on the website. There were plenty of parking spaces available, so I don't understand why they would charge for parking. We opted for parking on the streets. It's first come first serve basis. There were plenty of parking available within a block's distance. Our room was located across the street from the main lobby. A/C unit was old and blocked one of the closet doors. Bathroom is small. You can barely close the door without hitting the toilet. There is also an internet charge of $9.95/day and bottled water in the room costs $3 each. The hotel is definitely overpriced. It does not look or feel like a 4 star hotel.
