A Great Splurge
For us, the Fess Parker Doubletree Hotel was a real splurge. A hotel room is a hotel room and except for the quality of the furniture, it was not much different from any other,BUT, the staff, the location and the food was absolutely outstanding. So muchso, that we are consideringmaking this mother/daughter aoutting an annual splurge.

My review of Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort Santa Barbara
The Fess Parker's Double Tree Resort was an unforgetable experience. Our room had a balcony that had an ocean view, which was just right accross the street. Its in a beautiful location were you can go for a walk at any time of the day. Its also very close to restaurant and shopping facilities. My stay was amazing and I can't wait to go back later on this month. I recommend this resort to everyone who wants a romantic get away and who wants to have a really good time in Santa Barbara.

Extraordinary resort on the Pacific
My husband and I recently celebrated our first anniversary at Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort on Cabrillo Boulevard in downtown Santa Barbara CA. With all the recent economic troubles, we wanted to get away but just couldn't manage the outlay for flights, plus a hotel and the other expenses of foreign travel, so we chose to stay in Santa Barbara, the town where we live. In fact, we stayed close enough to home to have walked there, but Fess Parker's truly made us feel as if we were away on vacation. Driving onto the hotel property, you immediately feel as if you have reached a very exclusive resort. The grounds are beautiful, and the first sight of the hotel is an enormous atrium facing the Pacific. You definitely feel keen to check-in and see what else is in store for you. The lobby, like all the common areas, is an expansive space, cool and beautifully decorated. The front desk staff is very friendly, but also efficient. Actually, all of the staff we met during our stay, from the gardeners to the spa reception clerk, were welcoming and friendly. Our room was the King ocean-view category. There was a surplus of space! I've never been in a hotel room so large that there could have been two king beds, or multiple sofas, without crowding the room: it made us feel very much at home. We especially enjoyed the little private patio, looking out over the lawns of the hotel and the Pacific across the street. Both my husband and I marveled at the fact that other guests complained about the Amtrak train's runs through Santa Barbara. First, because there isn't any place in SB or its environs where you *don't* hear the train, and 2nd, because it's hardly jarring - unless I suppose you are an absolute insomniac and can't sleep through anything louder than rain. To us, the sound of the train seemed to make the feeling of travel more concrete; you can't hear a train whistle without thinking about embarking for parts unknown. We were so happy with our stay at Fess Parker's Doubletree that we've decided to make it our annual anniversary trip and that to me, is the highest recommendation one can give.

Short walk from hotel
Across from the hotel, on the ocean side of Cabrillo Blvd., there is a bike path and walk/run path. It's one of the most scenic you'll find. In the same location, on Sundays there is a huge Arts and Crafts show, featuring the work of local artists and craftmen.

Good location
The Fess Parker DoubleTree Resort was located across the street from the beach in Santa Barbara. The hotel was beautiful, well-maintained and comfortable. We did not use any of the resort facilities, but I saw bikes for rent on the property for use on the bike trail along the beach. The room was expensive for off-season, but probably priced in the same range as other similar Santa Barbara properties.

Long walk from hotel
On Sundays, be sure to walk through the outdoor art fair along the beach path, a short walk from the hotel. Some of the art, particularly the photography, is excellent.

A Day away
It was a nice stay. The pool was spacious and the hotel was directly across the street from the beach and shops were right up the road. Hotel staff was friendly. The spa staff was good but the spa itself was on the small side. The only real negative was a train rides through late at night (after midnight) and its very loud.

Love this Hotel
This was my 4th trip to Santa Barbara but my first stay at the Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort. I loved the location and definitely would stay there again. Unfortunately, I was busy moving my daughter into her housing for school so was unable to use most of the facility but hopefully can return for a leisurely visit soon. I'm a runner so walking right across the street and running on the beach was a delight!
