Great location!

Best value for an average hotel room that's in a 5-star location. Nothing fancy, but clean and relatively quiet. Apparently an older hotel (1960s?) that has been renovated. Has some mid-century charm, but seems to be more a product of what they started with than any intent to maintain or enhance it. Highly recommend as a decent value when considering all of the factors rated above.

Don't stay at Days Inn unless you have to

Room is super super small, walls are like paper, you can hear everything...and I mean everything. Also the blankets felt like sandpaper and the woman at the front desk had told me I had already checked out an hour ago....when I was sleeping. The cleaning people try to open your door all morning and wake you up from 7am-11am. Don't stay here.

Great location for the value!

I was surprised how good of a location this hotel had. It was the cheapest, decent hotel around the area. We were able to walk to Stearns Wharf, the beach, and even to some places on State St. Our cab ride was only five minutes to the bars on State St. The room was clean. Overall, I loved my stay.

We went to a few bars on State St. and stopped at Indo first. The bartender/owner was great. He served great drinks and even gave us recommendations for good places to go to. The place looks small once you enter but it has a patio and another bar in the back. DJ was good.

great location for a right price in Santa Barbara

The Days Inn Santa Barbara was just what I was looking for. It was a cheapest accommodation that I could find (at the scale of Santa Barbara hotels) and, yet, it has satisfied me fully. Its location is great. Cabrillo boulevard (town's oceanside promenade and thoroughfare) is one block down, SB harbor is few blocks away. The main attractions on and around State Street would require a short walk, but still it is very close. The room was spacious enough, clean (and cleaned daily). A/C, TV, coffee-maker were there and worked fine. There was free Wi-Fi and it was pretty fast and reliable.

Famous Stearns Wharf (they claim it to be the first pier on the West coast) is very close and it has nice views, tours, restaurants.

Surprised in a good way

This Days Inn was surprisingly fine. I was bracing myself for something bad. The check-in is in this little office that seems family run (live in quarters connected). An older gentleman was a little slow, but got me checked in. As I said, I was bracing myself for something not so good, but was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door to my room. The walls were a pleasant green with contemporary art work nicely framed on the walls and the quilt on the bed was matching in a tropical kind of way...it was tasteful. The room felt a little small, but I didn't mind, as I was traveling alone. The tv was large. The power button on the tv was broken, but after many attempts of trying to work it, I realized there was a remote on the bedside table in a "clean remote" container. The refrigerator was large. There was a coffee pot with condiments and an ironing table and iron in the closet. The bathroom is little, but there were no cracked tiles or signs of age, such as mildew stains, etc. The room was very clean and the air conditioner worked fine. The blanket in the closet seemed pretty old - they could replace that, but the blanket on the bed was soft and nice...good pillows. The older gentleman's wife, I'm guessing, was very nice to me the next morning when I went to get muffins in the front office (complimentary breakfast). She offered a tray to me to take things back to the room and asked if the room was ok. If you're wanting to save money, I recommend staying in a hotel such as this, instead of one on upper State Street...those seem to be sleazier. This one is within walking distance to the beach...just 2 blocks away..very convenient to the beach, Stearns Wharf and State Street. I would consider staying here again... It's not fancy, but did the job...the room was fine. It is in a motel style, where you can park right outside your room.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk over to the beach, the marina (restaurant there on the outside deck), and Stearns Wharf (restaurants out on the end of the pier). You can also walk to State Street, where all the shopping is. Also at the entry to the pier is the arts and crafts fair every Sunday morning. You can also catch a trolley tour here too.

Reasonable & Clean

Of course you can pay more in SB, but you can't beat the location, cost, and clean room. The only reason I didn't give a five star is the rooms are small, queen size bed, comp breakfast, and the walls are thin. But none of those things took away from a great time in SB!!

Great for a weekend

Great location, it is about a block away from the beach. Although we didn't spend much time in the rooms, they were comfortable and clean.

Location, but not much else.

The best part of this motel is the location. We never used our car the entire time we were in Santa Barbara. Shops, restaurants, the beach, and kayaking were all within a 15 minute walk. The front desk staff were very nice. Housekeeping seemed to hate her job. We returned to our room one afternoon after spending the day at the beach. The room wasn't made yet. Not a huge issue, but what was worse was that housekeeping took our used towels and didn't replace them. So we had an unmade room with no towels. The front desk was happy to help, but there seemed to be confusion (caused by lack of communication) with the housekeeping staff. The walls are extremely thin. TV's, conversations, and even an electric shaver from adjacent rooms can be heard clearly from our room. And we had all windows closed. Overall, we left wishing we either spent more for a better hotel, or less for a Motel 6.

Mini vacation

This hotel was in a good location and was not too shaby. It was close to the beach and there were plenty of things to see walking distance. It was clean and cozy for the amount of time spent there. I was looking for a place where i would crash after a night out and it fit perfectly. I would definitely stay there again.
