Convenient location for our particular visits.

For the second time we have stayed at this motel, we had to have our room changed. This time we had a bathroom sink which was filling with drain water from an adjacent room! Last time it was noise from 200 high school kids on buses. Both times, however, the management did provide an upgraded room for us as well as a complimentary meal at the nearby restaurant.

bad service, not near beach

Staff put us in a room where lights didn't work, at the very back of the hotel, even though they were practically empty. When we called them saying lights don't work they said we should come back to front desk to fetch new card for new room, which is next door to the one we have - that's just bad customer service. Location is far from Santa Barbara beach area.

Wonderful Place with Many Extras!

This hotel was a little bit older than expected, but the extras put it over the top! It was very clean and comfortable. The many extras included:coffee pot, makeup mirror, fridge, microwave, cookies and fruit, and USA today. The lobby also offered a variety of delicious coffees and hot apple cider. We would definitely visit here again!

A great place to stay in Santa Barbara

This hotel had a great staff! The grounds were as clean as they could be and the room was redone every morning (5) that we were there. It was excellent for a visit from Mn. to Santa Barbara. They even supplied a shuttle to and from the airport for us. They offered coffee and fruit at all hours in the lobby and always left fresh fruit and candies in the room. The only thing that they could add would be a continental breakfast. However, there was a refrigerator and microwave in the room so we were able to have breakfast there or a midnight snack as needed. Great hottub, pool and firepit for everyone's enjoyment.

Noise Carries

We had a second floor unit overlooking the interior courtyard. Our room looked out over the fire pit, so at night, a group of about 6 people were talking and laughing, and we could hear their whole conversation. To top it off, when anyone closed the front door to their room, it slammed . In addition, someone decided to carry on a telephone conversation on their balcony at 7 am in the morning. It sounded like they were right next to us. If you want a decent nights sleep, I would not stay here. The interior courtyard is pretty, though.

Great place and great stay

The kids and I were in Santa Barbara for my nieces graduation. Since becoming a family, we typically stay at the Best Western's because of price, a pool, and pet-friendliness. We didn't have our pet with us, but the kids enjoy seeing other pets. The front office staff was very accommodating. We arrived a little earlier than our check-in time. The staff was very gracious in getting our room ready quickly. The kids loved the room because the back of the room had a sliding patio door which led directly to the pool. the kids were thrilled and we were as well. The whole facility was very clean! Directly across the hotel was a very nice mall (La Cumbre mall) with restaurants and a Von's grocery store. Just a block away was a Whole Foods which is where we purchased our breakfast items for the next morning. The room had a mini fridge and a microwave (great when one has children). we were very comfortable here. The price was a bit much for a Best Western and we are assuming it was due to the weekend graduation at the colleges or it might just be Santa Barbara. However, for the convenience of being only 10 minutes away from downtown and 5 min from graduation site, it was worth it to us.

Everything It Claims To Be

The hotel was quite nice. On site restaurant serves cocktails. Two pools and beautifully manicured grounds. Great staff, very friendly and attentive. Directly across the street from the town's shopping mall. Great shopping and dining within walking distance. The only downside is the location—it's miles from the downtown State Street shopping. Not a super big deal to drive down and park. If location is not a primary concern, the Pepper Tree Inn is a reasonable deal. My only issue was, despite numerous other reviews, the mattress in our room was not comfortable. Woke up with a backache both days.
