Overnight at the Hotel de Anza
Book early if at all possible! It was a pretty busy weekend, Amgen bike tour, Sharks game, an event at the convention center, etc. I reserved for a king bed and all they had left when my wife and I checked in was a double bed room. Otherwise, we'll definitely stay at the hotel again.

Great location
We went to a tennis tournament at the HP Pavilion. The hotel is located about two blocks from the Pavilion so we were able to leave our car and walk. Lots of restaurants around the hotel within walking distance.

This is the perfect place for events at the Pavillion
We had tickets for Andrea Bocelli at the HP Pavillion and did not want to have to drive home that night, so we booked our first room at the DeAnza. This is a wonderful hotel and it is within an easy walk to the Pavillion. They have a lively bar scene with entertainment in the evening so you can gently wind down from your event and keep the fun going. Their complimentary cookies are wonderful and their pantry service is a nice plus (when available). Our room was quite sufficient for an overnight stay and their bell service was excellent.

Short drive from hotel
If you really want to make your evening special, a pre-show dinner at Arcadia (in the Marriot hotel) by Michael Minna is worth the short cab ride. We had the beet & cheese salad and filet mingon and they were outstanding. Cocktails and wine selection are excellent. In the morning, there is a Starbucks just 2 short blocks from the hotel.

Perfect spot
The staff was more than accommodating and friendly. On top of asking if there was anything I needed but not overly pushy. Within walking distance of downtown San Jose which is perfect since parking can be tricky. The staff was very knowledgeable about the area as well. Great hotel, I'd definitely stay there again.

Almost slept in the car.
It started out as the perfect get away. I had planned to visit San Jose and enjoy the night around the area with a friend. But the untimely loss of my debit card almost canceled everything. Then Obitz came to the rescue with the option for my brother to use his card with me as the guest. All seemed well with the world as I ate, laughed, had a good time with my friend. Then, before we checked out studio 8, I thought it would be good to check in. I had the confirmation email from Obitz on my phone and stars in my eyes. When I got to the front desk, the night manager took my ID as I explained my brother had used his card for me. We both live at the same address and have the same weird last names. The manager insisted that my name was not included in any documentation from Obitz even showed me a print out with my brothers name, although I can't confirm the origin or purpose of the print out. And since I wasn't the card holder they would need to confirm with my brother. After having trouble reaching him (he was at the gym) I gave the phone to the manager to confirm. Here's where it gets weird. After receiving confirmation from my brother, the manager insisted on my brother sending him a photo of both sides of his credit card and a photo of his ID. Then he insisted my brother write a statement and send to him included with photos both sides of his credit card as well as his ID! Throughout the process the staff acted indifferent to condescending towards me and my friend. They even insinuated I might have stolen my brother's card. They were nice as honey afterwards. I'm not even going to comment on the fact the hotel requires additional $100 card deposit or $200 cash deposit. Now, I'm not accusing the hotel of identity theft, but I'm advising my brother to get a new cc. I doubt the hotel's email accounts are as secure as they should be to store sensitive, personal information. The rest of the hotel was exceptional. But with a start like that, the car seemed a better option.

Hotel De Anza
This historic hotel is situated conveniently downtown, within walking distance of businesses and restaurants. The adjoining patio (part of the bar) is delightful. The room was fine, but lacked a closet for hanging up clothes, and a luggage rack on which to set your suitcase. The staff was most helpful.

Very Comfortable Experience
The Hotel was very comfortable with all expected amenities. The bar was nicely appointed and the food delicious. We didn't try the restaurant but the Italian menu would be a nice departure for fast-food weary travellers. A nice touch was the 10pm to 4am "Raid our Pantry" idea but the room could have done with coffee making facilities. Parking was expensive but not unexpected in Downtown San Jose! Breakfast was pricey and sparse for the price, however. Overall a pleasant stay!

Great Remodel of a Historic Hotel in SJ!
We used this hotel to serve as a home base for a show at HP Pavilion. What a great decision! Walking distance to the venue. Lots of restaurants and bars within a block. The hotel renovation completed relatively recently creates for a really nice place to stay. Rooms are clean, truly 4 star hotel, and the feel of a newer more modern hotel as well. Only downside is that the rooms are not huge, but they are certainly adequately large for 2 people. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return for a future event. Snacks are available (cookies, candy, etc) throughout the day and late night food is also available. A nice little touch to improve your stay!

2nd stay a miss not a hit
the first time that i stayed here i had a corner room in the 7 series (307, 407, etc...) and these are fanta, stic, big open, airy and the staff was so friendly. so, i had to go back to san jose and wanted to book the de anza again. this time was in a 13 room (613) that was barely big enough to hold the bed. The hotel is clean, lovely and has a wonderful bar. But, no wifi (which is stupid for a hotel in silicon valley) and very poor cable selection. Great downtown location to walk to all the hot spots and we love the 10pm to 5 am free buffet.
