Legendary Union Square hotel combines comfort, class
The Westin St. Francis is the only hotel that actually sits on Union Square. The main building dates back to 1904, and many public areas boast the ornate columns, intricate woodwork and other design elements from this era. Perhaps the property's most famous feature is its Magenta Grandfather Clock, a popular place for people to meet. Today the property comprises two separate buildings: the historic main building and a newer tower. Three on-site restaurants offer a host of dining options.

Excellent Location!
This hotel is located right at Union Square. We rode BART from the airport and the station is only 3 blocks away down Powell Street. Staff was helpful and the room was great. Area has lots of good restaurants and if you want to shop, there's a giant Macy's right across the square from it. It's on the Powell Street line for cable cars and Geary line for buses. We walked most places from this location because it's so great. Next time I visit, I'm staying here again!

Great Location
The hotel was located very near many attractions. It was just a 2 mile walk to the Warf. The hotel was very helpful when planning day tour trips.

Friendly and helpful staff
This was our first visit to the Westin St. Francis and it was great. The check-in clerk upgraded us to a room with a king-size bed which was fantastic! All the staff were eager to answer questions and make arrangements. We would stay here again.

Great location
The room was not what I expected for a historic hotel. However the bed was wonderful and I did get a good nights sleep. Can't beat the hotel location if you are a shopper. The M Michael Mina restaurant, located in the former Compass Rose room, is fantastic.

Great Location
For our first visit to San Francisco this hotel was in a perfect location we saw Jersey boys at the Curran theater 1 and a half blocks Great shopping access. Very close to china town always a taxi at the front door cable car also right in front.Very freindly hotel staff. We will definately return

Historic and Posh
Perfect location to visit the city of San Fran.Excellent service and prompt response for necessities. If staying in the older portion of the hotel, be prepared to hear everything, including the water running thru the pipes. You may need to recall for the maids to clean the room to your standards.Clean sheets have to be requested. You may be dissapointed with the city view.It may be the brick on the building next door.Over all,an excellent place to stay.

Right across the street are places with much less food and drink prices then in the hotel. Convient to Walgreens and Rite Aid for those incidentals and alchol for the room
