Maybe I sould not let others know how nice it is o stay in this dated but glamorous hotel lest too many people discover it and the prices go up. It is my second stay here over five years. This is a boutique hotel that needs some updating, up Geary about 1 1/4 miles from Union Square. They try harder to make it feel full service, with restaurant, rom service, a small bar, and a lounge rea with a busines center (the Doorman has to plug in he printer). I'll stay here until the prices go up.

Back near where I grew up!

Love the hotel and the location, but they didn't leave me any hangers in the closet and the room was a little too warm. Couldn't beat the peace and quiet here.

Met my requirements

The atmosphere of The Majestic was unique. The price and prior reviews and authenticity of the hotel is what brought us to make our reservation here. We were happy with the service. Two blocks from bus stop, but farther than I would have liked for walking to main attractions. If it is your first stay in San Francisco and you are going to hit all of the tourist spots I would probably stay somewhere in Union Square itself so you are in the hustle and bustle of it all rather than taking a taxi to get there. But we enjoyed our stay overall and really can't say anything bad about it. Staff was pleasant and rooms were clean, but small.

Old World Charm in San Francisco

Our stay at the Hotel Majestic in the Pacific Heights district of San Francisco was very enjoyable. The room was beautifully decorated with canopy style beds and Victorian style lace curtains and drapes. This hotel is the oldest hotel in S.F. and its "old world" charm and style really made us feel we were part of the San Francisco heritage. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We always got a good nights sleep. The neighborhood is walking distance to restaurants and the more trendy parts of S.F. but not so close you can hear the hustle and bustle of night life during the early morning hours. All in all, we had a very enjoyable and very comfortable time during our 5 day stay.

not bad for the price we paid

this was our first trip to San Fran as a couple. location could have been better and hotel a little less noisy, meaning no squeaking floors and maids not waking us up at 8am each morning to clean the room above us.. after all we came to get some rest after a long day of activities and all that San Fran has to offer. Location was great for nights out, late night dinners or great breakfast places. All in all would stay here again given that all we care about is exploring the city.

Hotel Majestic San Francisco

the location, the building, the environment, and the room were good, but breakfast and wifi internet were not included. Parking fees per night is too expensive.

Hits the spot

It's not the five star experience but they know how to treat guests, have a convenient location and there is a certain quaintness that some will find satisfying. Great neighborhood and nothing is too far away.

Top Floor Please

Nice building at the top of a hill outside JapanTown, so no matter which way you go it is up-hill to get home to the hotel. Not hard to catch public transportation from there. Staff are friendly and curteous. The one thing that was lacking was a comfortable bed (very springy and lower quality matress) that didnt "break" when you turned over (the support bar kept slipping out with a loud thunk, and we would put it back in and position it correctly, but it kept slipping out somehow, I bet the room downstairs was quite annoyed). The towels were restocked as asked, except for the last couple of days when they did not give us back the second set of towells. Aside from that housekeeping was good considering the very old dirty carpet... bed was always made, they vaccuumed some dirt we drug in, etc. I think the bed and the location are what will make me stay closer to downtown next time.

This is OK for the money if you want to stay near JapanTown, but remember JapanTown doesnt open till around 11am, so breakfast will have to be somewhere else!
