Nice location

The hotel was very clean and very cute. It had a European feel to it. It was a very short walk to union square or to downtown Yerba Buena gardens.

Hubby's Birthday Trip To San Fran

We arrived at the hotel @ 3pm, which was supposed to be check in time (per my printed confirmation). The agent advised that our room was not ready and to come back at 4pm. We came back at 5pm and asked if there were any upgrades available as the agent told us we would not have a view in our assigned room. She said that she could upgrade us to a "suite" for $80 per night. When we got to the so called "suite" we were very unhappy and dis-satisfied as it was not a suite, but a very cramped adjoining two bedroom. Literally, it was two hotel rooms with one entrance!! It was only myself and my husband so we did not need or want a two bedroom room, we just wanted a sitting area, refrigerator and a view. We had to go back downstairs to ask for another room, and were re-assigned our original room type. The website advertised nightly tequila tastings and a complimentary continental breakfast--neither were available. I was very disappointed with the false advertising. I'm not sure if this happened because the hotel changed ownership? When I booked this trip several months ago, it was advertised as a Best Western but I was told upon arriving that it is a Pineapple Hospitality resort. I definitely will NOT book this hotel or recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. It was noisy, cramped, and uncomfortable.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

The sunset cruise was amazing. Beautiful views of the Golden Gate, Alcatraz, and Angel Island. The food was pretty good, and the boat was not overcrowded. I would take it again and I would highly recommend it!

Loved this hotel

Very quirky hotel, best beds of our 3 week roadtrip, fluffiest towels I've had in a hotel. Lovely pineapple muffins every day. Free bikes were great to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge. Use the Olympic Diner opposite - great breakfast - doesn't look much from the front but worth it

Pinapple Hospitality

The staff at Hotel California were on point with their customer service skills. The room was comfortable and was exactly what I expected a hotel in San Fran to look like. My only complaint comes from the parking. I was told valet was $50 per night. This seemed a bit pricey but due to convenience I opted to use this service. The recommend calling 10-15 minutes ahead to request your car. I did this and I still waiting 30 minutes. This was a one time occurance but still frustrating none the less. Overall, my experience here was very positive.

Just what we wanted

When the taxi was driving to the hotel my first thought was "what have I booked" We did pass some homeless people on the way but when we got there we found it was a wonderful location. Close enough to Union Square and the shops we wanted to visit was within walking distance. We found places to eat close by and were safe walking at night. 'The staff on arrival were so friendly Rebecca who booked us in and William as concierge was great so helpful. Its not the ritz but had character and charm. We had a double room with bathroom with the only drawback nowhere to sit but definitely value for money. Would highly recommend it for average traveller who is down to earth.

Hotel California

Great value on a wonderful hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable. We had a two room suite which was comfortable for our family of four. The staff was courteous and helpful. Nice breakfast and delightful wine and cheese reception each afternoon.

great location

The location was perfect for our weekend getaway. Trolley was within a few blocks. Only complains that I have were the noise and no AC, but it was not that bad. It was pretty cool in the evening so AC was not a big deal

Felt like I was bak in Italy

The hotel was quaint, reminded me of a hotel I stayed in Italy. The room was "bedroom" size smaller bathrooms... The hallways smelled of ethnic cooking? Which was interesting. Would stay again!
