Boutique luxury with a free wine hour within minutes of Union Square
Occupying a beautifully restored 17-story Spanish revival building in the heart of San Francisco, the Serrano Hotel, a Kimpton property, is both fun and sophisticated. The decor displays a healthy dose of whimsy, as the lobby and rooms incorporate vibrant colors and exotic Spanish and Morrocan accents. The on-site restaurant, Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen, serves upscale tavern-inspired fare in a hip and modern space. Serrano offers wine hour every evening, as well as in-room spa services.
Highlights
- Hosted evening wine hour
- Union Square and Theater District offer unparalleled shopping and culture
- Upscale tavern-inspired fare at Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen, the on-site eatery
Rooms
Oversized beds, high ceilings and colorful accents characterize just about all of the Serrano's 236 rooms, 19 of which are suites. Accommodations come standard with cordless phones, iPod docking stations, honor bars, Aveda bath products and laptop-sized safes. The special "Wicked Suite" features photos of characters from the show "Wicked" and was designed in purple and green. Overnight shoeshines are complimentary. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access is available in all rooms (fees apply). Pets welcome (fees apply).
Features
The Serrano prides itself on fun. Arriving guests can try their luck in the "Check-In Challenge," a friendly card-game competition. If the guest wins, the prize is a free upgrade (when available). If the house wins, the guest is invited to make a voluntary contribution to the local SPCA. The property also owns a library of board games for guests to use in the lobby. Upon request, games are delivered to rooms.
The 24-hour on-site fitness center is complimentary. Spa services ranging from massage to facials and nail work are available in-room. The hotel also hosts an evening wine hour featuring local wines and offers complimentary limousine service to the Financial District on weekday mornings (when available).
Valet and self parking are available (fees apply).
Dining
Don’t miss Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen, the adjacent (but hotel-operated) restaurant which offers a great menu of upscale tavern-inspired fare and an extensive beer selection.Transportation

Not worth
Very unfriendly staff. Rooms are too small. The TV didnt work at room I stayed and neither did the AC/Heater. This place has no parking. They charge $44+tax for valet parking. The super8 hotel across might be a better option

Must Love Dogs
Perfect for Pets
Cute boutique hotel in Downtown SF. The well appointed lobby and rooms make best use of the intimate space. LOVED that there is no pet limit or weight limit for dogs. We have two and one is a Golden, it was difficult finding accommodations for us in SF. Another important note about the pet policy, you can leave them unattended in your room! That NEVER happens (unless you pay for an on-site pet sitter). So this really added to the value of our stay. Ordering breakfast from Jasper's Corner Tap (their on site restaurant) to be delivered to our room was another nice touch. The food is really tasty. We felt very taken care of by all of the staff, and especially the valet. They were very upbeat and friendly. We will definitely book the Serrano for our next SF stay.

Clean and Elegant
The hotel room was clean and elegant. It definantely had that old European charm. The staff was very friendly and the hotel only a few blocks from Union Square. Also I received a discount on valet parking becuase I had a hybrid vehicle.

Parking
The only problem was that the valet parking rate was too high. That is where it adds up to make it almost not worth it. Everything else was good.

Good choice for a tour and shopping in SF
Shopping and sightseeing with friend in SF before x'mas. I want to say the hotel was really beyond my expectation. and I had a happy experience during my stay. The room is not that big but so cozy and clean especially the pillows which is so comfort ! Location is convenience for sure. .Morning coffee and evening cocktail/wine in the hotel lounge will make you feel difference, and wifi as well...

In SF for just a day
We had a lot to cram into a single day in SF. We chose this hotel based on price, pictures, and the fact that Kimptons always seem reliable. We were pleasantly surprised by the great location. It was just 4 blocks to the cable car line which allowed us to get to Fisherman's Wharf and the Ferry Building easily. I would definitely stay there again!

nice place to stay in san fran
Just stayed here two nights but enjoyed the experience. It is walking distance from heart of downtown, which is about four blocks away. The staff is welcoming and the hotel has much old world character. The loyalty program was attractive. It's an older building but not a bad thing because it has character You can even open the windows. Neighborhood is fine if you are used to city living. I would stay here again.

Great location!
Great location, friendly staff, clean room! But I was dissapointed with the amount of amenities. They didnt have WIFI, you had to pay a lot for parking, no breakfast, just nothing above and beyond. You get the bare minimum, which I was disapointed with. Overall it was great, I just wished they would give a little bit extra since the price is high.
