Except for the hill, it was perfect
The corner room had a gorgeous view and you could watch the trolley roll down the tremendous hill that is in front of the hotel. Morning coffee in the lobby was delicious, the staff was very friendly and I feel like this hotel is a gem. I would definitely stay here again. After trudging through the rain to get to this hotel, the in-house restaurant was outstanding---sauteed veggies and fresh fish were a delight

A GREAT San Fran Hotel
This hotel has a FABULOUS location. It is at the top of a hill, but cable cars will take you in both directions. It is very close to Chinatown, and the city center (with the beautiful Union Square and shopping is only a 10 minute walk away). The reservation desk staff are GREAT, though the concierges weren't as friendly or willing to help. Request a bay-view room for only $20 more per night! The room was a little odd-shaped, but very nice... the only (very minor) downside was amenities (no pool, ice machine only on one floor, no in-hotel shopping), though the restaurant was excellent! Overall one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had, and probably one of the best hotel locations in all of San Francisco.

Better than expected
I read the other reviews about the place being shabby and I'd have to disagree. The upgrade/renovations are great! The front desk was nice, gave me a nice room with a cute skyline view. Comfy bed. I could barely hear the trolley outside. Be mindful that the hotel is on killer steep hills. I used the baggage hold, and they hooked me up with a great airport shuttle company for only $14. I ate at the aurea restaurant in the hotel--the crab-shrimp cake was dynamite.

Romantic getaway
It's a very nice hotel to stay at as a romantic getaway. My husband and I went there as a short honeymoon. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and clean. When we told the front desk we were there for our honeymoon, they were very kind and sent a small dessert and water to our room! Very friendly and knowledgable staff!

Nob Hill Classic Hotel
Very nice room with extremely comfortable bed. Very clean room and the drapes were a very nice touch. The concierge staff was extremely helpful in finding restaurants and for transportation about town. The bar and restaurant space was a bit off-putting for meals, it was 90% lounge and bar area with only a small dining area. Beware that if you take things out of the refrigerator even if you put them later back in, you may be charged for the item taken out.
