Sophistication with an Asian flair and an indoor pool near Union Square

Hotel Nikko feels more like Hong Kong than San Francisco. The lobby is spacious and stark, and rooms are minimalist in design. The on-site restaurant, Anzu, serves up Asian food with a Japanese focus. Distances at the on-site pool are measured in meters. Just steps from Union Square and the Moscone Convention Center, the Nikko is perfectly located for business travelers in town for conventions. At the same time, it is comfortable for families accustomed to sophisticated luxury.

Highlights
  • Live jazz at the Rrazz Room
  • A short walk from the shops and restaurants of Union Square
  • Spacious fifth-floor indoor pool
  • Sushi and other Asian-inspired fare available at on-site restaurant Anzu

Dining

Central SF - cool but not intimidating

I stayed for one night as part of a business trip and it suited my purposes well, especially as it was just a shory walk from the BART and Muni Metro services. I'm not sure that its would be the right type of hotel for a lenghty vacation stay, although the location is really good. My only minor moan is that the wireless Internet connection was not as good as I'd expect for $15.95 a day, everything else was super-efficient..

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The train, tram and bus services from Powell Station will get you to most places in the city and surrounding areas quickly and cheaply. The SFMTA web site has a lot of useful maps.

Hotel Nikko - Convention Booking

We really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Nikko. We booked our room late but were able to get a good rate at a good hotel. The room was somewhat small, but very clean and fresh. The hotel restaurant was very good. Room service was also good. The hotel allowed us to stay an extra night because of the East Coast Storm that affected our return flight. It is up a hill from convention center, but very close. We will be please to stay there again.

Faded Glory

i had stayed at the nikko a few years ago and was happy with my stay. this time, however, everything about it - including the location which is overrun with homeless people - was a little down at the heels. my room was inexpensive ($300) but absolutely tiny. two people would have had a difficult time walking around the bed. also, their cable channels are very limited - no hgtv!

Excellent hotel near Unon Square

Excellent hotel. Service is very good, location near Union Square is great - close enough, but not noisy. The bed and pillows are the best of the top rated SF hotels. Get a room with breakfast included -- this is a super breakfast that includes foods for everyone's diet, full American, Japanese or healthy at the buffet. I usually like to stay at boutique hotels, but this offers the best of a boutique and a large hotel.

Hotel Nikko--modern and convenient

Stayed at Hotel Nikko for a large international conference. Though the room was small, it was very modern and contempoary in design. Bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom was spacious. The workout facility was nice, though there is a ten dollar charge for its use.
