Historic sophistication and French dining in Pacific Heights
This Pacific Heights mainstay dates back to 1902, making it one of the oldest hotels in the entire city. With distinctive Bay windows, vintage architectural details and English antiques, the Hotel Majestic San Francisco ushers guests into another era -- complete with modern conveniences such as flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi Internet access. The on-site restaurant, Cafe Majestic, specializes in French cuisine.Highlights
- Period decor transports guests to another era
- Stellar shopping, restaurants in Pacific Heights
- Complimentary sedan service to the financial district on weekdays
Rooms
Roughly half of the Hotel Majestic San Francisco's 56 rooms are suites. Period antiques, original artwork, flat-screen TVs and monogrammed robes are standard in all rooms. Some also include mini-refrigerators, decorative fireplaces and claw-foot tubs. Many rooms offer bay windows with city-skyline views. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available and guests receive nightly turndown service with freshly-baked cookies.
Features
The Hotel Majestic San Francisco was constructed in 1902 on the estate of Milton Schmidt, a turn-of-the-century railroad magnate and member of the California State Legislature. It opened as a hotel in 1904. Because the property survived the 1906 earthquake unscathed, it holds the distinction of being San Francisco's longest continuously operating hotel. Today, all guests have access to a complimentary Town Car service to the financial district on weekday mornings. Dry cleaning services are available (fees apply), as are passes to a local gym complete with Nautilus workout equipment and a pool (fees apply). The on-site restaurant, Cafe Majestic, was renovated in 2009 and re-opened with a menu that spotlights French cuisine. The eatery's lounge area offers happy hour specials. Valet and self parking are available (fees apply).Transportation

San Francisco January Business Trip
Excellent property! This property has a wonderful warm old world charm about it - right from the brass room keys to the European antiques decorating the foyers and guest rooms. The dining room is one of the most elegant spaces I've ever seen, and the food is above par. Front desk, concierge, and valet services are smooth, fast and quietly efficient. The ambiance more than made up for any flaws (small room, no desk, no parking), however these issues are par for the course with vintage hotels. Very nice stay!

Hotel Majestic San Francisco
The staff was very friendly! The rooms were clean and the maid service superb! Don't look for the usual amenities when you stay here, you won't find a flat screen T.V. or free WF-FI, but you will find lots of charm. The bed was very comfortable, and the #2 & #3 bus stopped almost in front of the hotel. Very fun history so read the first page of the notebook on the bed stand. One thing everyone should know the walls are paper thin. We would definitely come back.

Great Place to stay!
San Francisco was a great city to visit! And Hotel Majestic was fantastic to stay at. It was comfortable and the overall feel made me as excited to be staying there as I was to see the city. The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaruant had great breakfast, though the menu is small. The entire place was very clean, which is a big deal for me. The staff was polite and very helpful. When my shuttle was late picking me up the staff were very concerned. They made sure I was picked up with enough time to catch my flight.

Perfect Inexpensive Hotel
I have been to SF many times but was showing the city to my boyfriend for his first time. I chose this hotel for the location and price and you can't beat it! I wanted a place in a neighborhood where you can get a better "feel" for SF and this one is in a convenient, safe, clean place. Short walk to Van Ness for any bus and if the Calif Cable Car line hadn't been down we would have taken that most days. Returned late to hotel and neighborhood was still safe, hotel personnel friendly and room clean. Rooms here are SMALL but if all you need is a place to sleep and you will spend most of your day in the city, you can't beat it. Our room was pretty, clean and on the first floor (so a bit noisy with traffic, but not bad). Bathroom very small so if you need 4 feet of counter space, you'll go crazy here. Staff hooked us up with a few tours, shuttles and event suggestions. We didn't eat in the restaurant but we got room service one day and it was good. We watched football with a large group in the bar one night - really nice mix of hotel guests and locals who obviously frequent the place. I think we all knew each other by the time we left. Great suggestion for place to eat in walking distance - one of our best meals in SF! Overall we really liked the hotel & would definately return anytime in the winter months, BUT maybe not in the summer - no A/C.

Winter Break
Great place and price.
The Hotel Majestic was a place right out of old San Francisco with Edwardian style architecture inside and out. The room was small but just fine with us. Great bathroom with claw foot tub. The people working there were all helpful and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. Also it is easy to get the bus to anywhere you want to go in San Francisco. We just left the car parked with the hotel the whole time....but you could get the car any time you wanted. The ice machines were broken but plenty of ice at the kitchen. We would recommend to friends and go back ourselves.

Highly recommended
Choosing Majestic over similarly priced "modern" hotels turned out to be a great decision. This place is a unique, real hotel that you will remember - and not one of those large hotels with generic details that look the same no matter where in world you are. Sure, the building is old, but is old with style and in good taste. The room had a fridge, and the bed came with an old-fashioned canopy. The bathroom was bright and spacious.

Very Pleased
Worked for me...clean, friendly and WiFi worked well. The room didn't have a proper desk or a coffee-maker, unfortunately. At the price I paid this hotel was very good value.
