If you love Japan, you'll fall in love with Hotel Kabuki

The room looks just like a japanese room, only larger (hey, it's America). Not to mention the location in Japan town next to all the ramen and udon and kimchi... Outside the lobby there's a gorgeous garden with red carps swimming in a small pond. A dream hotel.

Fantastic location

Friendly, professional staff. Excellent location near multiple restaurant hubs. Away from downtown area, but on transit lines. Corner and upper floor rooms are best. Deep Japanese tub is best for soaking after long day of walking.

Beautiful place

Great room, a little pricey, but likely due to being a Saturday night on gay pride weekend :-( The staff was nice, efficient, and answered all our questions. The restaurant served up a great brunch buffet for the price, and we had a great view of San Francisco from the 12th floor room with a small balcony.

Easy, Quiet, Comfortable Choice

No major issues here - great location; clean, average size SF room (small). The view from room 906 was nice. Took awhile to get hot water up to that floor late at night for a shower. Hotel staff was pleasant and it was nice of them to advise us to self park for almost half the price of valet. Also, the happy hour in the hotel restaurant was great! I don't know if I'd stay here again. It was near the Fillmore (went up for a show) so maybe...

Getting away for the weekend

I love this hotel. I've been with family, including 2 young kids, and solo. The rooms are tasteful, clean, and beautifully decorated. Amenities are nice. The soaking tubs are terrific. It's never disappointed. Parking can be expensive, but the location is worth it. And--they take pets. Next time, we're going to take our puppy. We will definitely return for a quick getaway.

Great choice in San Francisco

This is the only hotel is this part of town and it's near Fillmore Street and Pacific Heights, may favorite parts of San Francisco. It's where a lot of performers stay when their in the city to avoid crowds. (John Lennon and Yoko Ono stayed here. It's quiet, clear, well run. Lots of restaurants and shopping near by. It's always my first choice when I'm in the city.

Wonderful views, location

Stayed in higher floor, corner room with wonderful views of cityscape, sun-filled. Amazing location in Japantown - close to Lower Pacific Heights, walking distance Kabuki and Imperial spas, and good convenient bus routes to several neighborhoods. Deep Japanese tub to soak after a day of walking.
