San Diego overnight

I stayed here with my Fiance overnight for her birthday. The hotel seemed nice and was fairly priced for the area. The hotel staff were okay but not really what I would call welcoming or motivated to check you in. I had read the rooms were small and that was okay, we were only going to sleep in it. The rooms were nice, they even had a safe and a mini fridge. There was major construction going on in the area so traffic was a bit of a hassle. Not sure if there were other parking options but it seemed the easiest was to valet park which was 34$ extra. In my opinion I would have rather parked my own car but I made due because I didn't see any public parking. Overall the hotel was nice.

Perfect location for a great price

This is a beautiful hotel in a prime location in downtown San Diego for a fair price. The lobby was very nice, the rooms small but very clean and well decorated. The valet guys were very helpful and efficient. You get a great hotel for the price and it's walking distance to everything in downtown.

The downtown stay

I selected this hotel because the reviews seems pretty positive and the price was within my range. The rooms was like everyone was saying "small" there is not room to move at all in the bathroom. It was still very nice room. Being in downtown it was a great location however be careful of the many homeless people on the streets around. Also try to find parking elsewhere the hotel valet costs 34 a night!!! Which is ridiculous if you ask me since I'm paying to stay at the hotel atleast make the parking reasonable for hotel guests! Being new to visiting downtown we wanted to know what they hot places were to go. The front desk person told me that we could take to concierge however every time we tried too they were never there. Still a nice hotel but need to get some priorities straight.

Great Gaslamp Location

Very small rooms, but very clean and well planned. Can't best the location. Valet parking $30 but most hostels in Gaslamp are $40 so good deal. We would definitely stay here again.

Sofia city view

Good bed, in-room wifi. Nothing much to look at from the city view room but glimpses into other rooms at the back seemed to show garden outlooks. The toilet bowl is tiny and about 14" off the floor in the shower room, which may be an issue for those with limited mobility. Shower stall only, no tub. Microwave, fridge and safe in room. A better bathroom would make it a great stay. Near First Ave, so a fair walk along Broadway to all the eateries and bars on 5th Ave. Helpful staff and bus to Seaworld runs right outside - No. 30 then No. 9. An easy stroll down to harbour exhibits or take a bus. Buy the $5 day pass for public transport right near the stop in the Transport Office nearby and have a $5 return trip to Seaworld.

A very nice stay in San Diego

The Sofia was the perfect place for my short stay in San Diego. It was close to all the best restaurants and entertainment in San Diego so I didn't need to pay extra for a cab to get anywhere. It's also on the bus line that goes to Coronado Beach, which only 30 minutes via bus. The front desk clerk even provided me with a bus pass, which I used to go to the beach and got to see more of the city. Another great amenity they have there is are the free bike rentals. They don't have too many bikes, so if you're interested in seeing San Diego via bike, get there early in the morning. The restaurant also has very good breakfast. I later found out that it's one of the best restaurants in town. If I'd known earlier I would've gone for dinner. Overall, this was an awesome experience.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

It's right next Gaslamp district, the entertainment district of San Diego, which is only a short walk away. In addition, there are some very good places in Little Italy, that is only a mile away.
