Baseball getaway

Me and my buddy went to SD to see a couple baseball games. Although you could walk to the park from this hotel, I believe it was a $5 cab ride for the same distance. This hotel was also within walking distance of the Gas lamp district. The staff and everything within the hotel was nice and above average. Only complaint, and it's kind of a weak one, would be the amount of bums/transients in the area outside the hotel. They are harmless, but its not always the prettiest sight to see them passed out lying in a urine or vomit puddle within a couple hundred feet of the hotel. Biggest reason this probably occurs is because of the county courthouse and jail that is located across the street. Overall, I would stay here again.

would love to stay again!

My husband & I visited San Diego for a convention. The hotel was very centrally located- only about a 10 minute walk from the convention center and Gaslamp District, there were great cafes nearby as well as the shopping mall and convenience stores, and also provided easy access to public transportation. The San Diego Airport is only about a 10 min cab ride away, too. The staff was great- quick to respond to anything we needed. The room was VERY nice- clean with nice amenities, and cute little cards that told the weather for the next day. Work out facility was nice, too. The only thing that could have made this hotel better would have been a pool.

nice place, but noisy part of town

The hotel was great and they even left earplugs for the outdoor city noise, but it is in the heart of the noisy city.

Solid hotel

This hotel was fine for a place to stay in San Diego - the staff was friendly, the room was clean and nice, and it was conveniently located. Other than that, I was not overly impressed in terms of amenities or luxury. I'd stay again, but the hotel served more as totally fine place to sleep versus a wonderful hotel experience.

Ear plugs

Foe the price, it's a good choice for san Diego downtown hotel. You will see a pair of ear plugs waiting at bedside table, use them, cause the sound proof at the hotel room was not good and you can easily hear next room ppl caughing or something else :p

Convention/business stay

This hotel was amazing, in all aspects! Their bed was comfortable that the moment I hit the bed I went to sleep. The room was clean. Staff was great! Very accommodating. I stayed at this hotel because I had a meeting at the San Diego Convention Center, and it is about 15 minutes walking distance--depending on how fast or slow you walk! I just wish they would have complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport to set this hotel the best of all the others. Also it is within walking distance from Gaslamp quarter.

Quick San Diego Getaway

Overall a great experience at The Bristol Hotel. The person that checked us in was very helpful and everyone was quick to respond to a couple of requests we had. The location is perfect as it's a short walk from the hotel to Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp District. There's also a few brunch places within a 5 minute walk if you wanted to get breakfast as well. Our one complaint is the parking situation. If you go out far enough you will find street parking but we didn't feel safe leaving our car in any of the areas where parking was available overnight. Valet parking for $26 is available at the hotel and that's pretty reasonable when compared with other lots in the area, but it's also higher than what we are use to paying. Our main complaint though is that it took the valet's more than 20 minutes to retrieve our car. We had given them our ticket before a large group that checked out after us but everyone else got there car first.
