San Diego getaway
We were just looking for something relatively affordable in the San Diego area for one night. Hotel not bad, but interesting that A/C unit was held in with cardboard and duct tape. Was in non-smoking room but had to pass through smoking zone to get there and wife could definitely smell it. Free breakfast was all sugar products, and very basic ended up going elsewhere to feed family.

Close to beach, but run down!
Breakfast was a joke, hardly anything to choose from. Not enough outlets in room, we had to unplug lights and other things just to have a place to charge our camera, and cell phones. Curtains shabby, and pillows were flat as a pancake. Shower only had scalding HOT water. Air conditioner kept shutting off, and it was very hard to keep room cool. Only good thing was it was close to the beach!

Smokin Super 8
They have a nice pool and very friendly staff. Rooms are clean and everything was ok. We had fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV, clean none smoking rooms and parking. BUT since many of the rooms are smoking, the hallway smells like, make a guess,...... ting ting ting show me on the board, cigarets. Oh almost forgot the AC in the room brought me childhood memories, because we had the same kind when i was six, more than twenty years ago. we were lucky that the weather was nice and we didn't need it, I tried to tun it on but it was in such a bad shape the front panel came of and it wont turn on. Long story short, will I return here? depends on how much I can spend. So if you're on a budget and trying to save money it's better than many other places who charge the same price.

Cheap and Acceptable
We were there to visit Silver Strand State Beach and family staying there. Motel is located in the middle of downtown Imperial Beach. Not noisy in room, but neighborhood looked very questionable. Staff was friendly. Surprisingly nice continental breakfast. Definitely not anything luxurious, but economical for a quick overnight stay with the kids by the beach.
